The release of the Panasonic Lumix S 18mm f/1.8 Lens For L Mount cameras marks the arrival of the widest L mount lens in a series of five high-quality prime optics to date. All of the lenses share similar sizes, filter threads and weight distribution to support high quality video content production. This enables you to share compact 67mm lens filters between lenses, quickly balance gimbals when switching focal lengths and save on common video accessories.
The ultra wide angle Lumix S 18mm f/1.8 Lens offers a wide field of view with high resolution images and beautiful smooth out of focus backgrounds from a wide f/1.8 aperture, helping to separate your subject from distractions. It also features high-speed precise AF from a linear motor, well suppressed focus breathing and linear / non-linear settings in MF, for a truly hybrid optic.
At 18mm the Lumix S 18mm f/1.8 Lens is ideal for creating dramatic scale, capturing landscapes, cities, interiors and astro as well as for vlogging and creative video recording.

Beautiful results from corner to corner
A high quality optical design renders high resolution for stills and video, beautiful bokeh and low coma aberration, which is ideal when shooting stars and astro photography. The optical formula is composed of 13 elements arranged in 12 groups, which includes 3 ASPH, 1 UED, 3 ED AND 1 UHR special lens elements.
The 9-bladed aperture diaphragm renders pleasingly smooth out of focus areas and beautiful bokeh balls on this ultra wide lens.

Whether capturing images or videos the Panasonic Lumix S 18mm f/1.8 Lens delivers high-speed and high-precision AF with L mount cameras. The focus ring supports linear and non linear settings when shooting in MF for added versatility when capturing movies.
Creative lens for video
With such an extensive range of cameras for hybrid shooters and videographers, the Panasonic S 18mm f/1.8 includes a number of video-centric features. These include the ability to make smooth exposure changes through micro-step aperture control, well suppressed focus breathing, which minimises any changes to the angle of view when pulling focus. The inner focus and linear motor mechanism delivers silent AF and allows you to accurately track subjects across the frame. When shooting in MF and linear focus is selected you are able to adjust the rotation angle of the focus ring to suit your shooting style and the lens provides great compatibility with follow focus systems.
Unified prime lens design for high quality video production
This is the fifth prime lens from Panasonic which offers a unified shooting experience when changing lenses, switching filters and mounting your camera on a gimbal such as the DJI RS 3 or Zhiyun Weebill 3. With similar weight and balance switching lenses to change focal widths while using a gimbal is simple as the gimbal maintains similar tilt and roll, with no adjustments or rebalancing required.

Our Verdict
Panasonic has created a series of unified lens designs to meet the needs of L mount hybrid creators who shoot both stills and video. The Lumix S 18mm f/1.8 Lens is the fifth to join the unified range, offering an ultra wide option for capturing dynamic scenes, including landscapes, cityscapes, interiors and astro photography. The compact prime is highly portable, weighing just 340g and packs a number of special lens elements, which are responsible for rendering high resolution and extremely well-controlled images and videos.
An internal linear AF motor delivers reassuringly quick and quiet focusing, although moviemakers will often rely on MF for smoother focus pulls or transitions. This is where Lumix lenses shine, with the option to set linear and non linear MF to suit your workflow, as well as delivering the feeling of a mechanical focus ring. The rotation of the ring can be adjusted when in linear mode, and focus breathing remains well corrected with less distracting focus shifts.
Micro step aperture is capable of making smooth exposure changes, cementing the lens as a great option for creative videographers. As with most Panasonic lenses this model is perfect for outdoor shooters, with dust and splash resistance and operation down to -10ºC. If you’re an L mount creator this ultra wide prime makes an enticing addition to your creative toolbox, to head out and capture dynamic scenes during the day or at night.

Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
