Camera Drones

Drones are now firmly established in the photographic world, favoured and loved by aerial photographers and videographers. These unmanned aircraft are used by photographers for a huge range of aerial scenes, advertising, racing, estate agent photography, as well as landscape and adventure photography. Models range from beginner to professional and can typically fly for 20-40 minutes, between 3km and 30km at acceptable heights of around 400 feet, with speeds up to 70mph. DJI are leading the pack the Mavic, Mini and Pro models, all available to buy online from Park Cameras.

A drone is controlled with your smartphone with a controller, which receives a high resolution image so that the pilot can see what the drone is filming. Video capabilities range from HD to 4K 60fps recording, with high quality stills capturing up to around 20 megapixels. Images and video are sufficiently high quality for a range of platforms including Youtube content creation. The software developed to fly unmanned aircraft has advanced considerably, with flight patterns pre-loaded for fly-arounds, follow me and other advanced filming techniques. Users can also program their own patterns with some models.

Most drones also feature advanced technology to assist with safe flying. These include collusion sensors, out of range sensors and return to home functions when a battery is low.

Whether you are buying your first camera drone as a beginner, or upgrading from a previous model as a pro pilot, there is such a wide choice available now that photographers are spoilt for choice. Flying a drone is incredibly fun and enjoyable, and when you’ve got a drone with a camera attached you’re able to shoot beautiful still images and video from the skies above you. Remembering to adhere to the CAA Safety Regulations and being wary of No Fly Zones, you can easily get flying with a camera drone and start capturing unique angles.

NOTE: As of 2021 all UK drones must be registered with the Civil Aviation authority, click the link for more information on registering your new drone.

Events at Park Cameras

Throughout the year, Park Cameras hold and attend a range of events. For photographers currently stuck indoors, as opposed to our events that are traditionally held in store or on the road, we are currently working on a range of events that can be held in the comfort and safety of your own home. In these uncertain times, there’s never been a better time to get to grips with your camera, and hopefully we can help achieve this. Find out more
