Collapsible Reflectors

A portable collapsible reflector is one of the essential light modifiers found in most portrait, fashion, and studio photographers’ kit bags. Reflectors are used in photography to enhance the amount of light on a subject and to fill in shadow areas.

They are commonly used in outdoor, natural light environments instead of when using off-camera flash. They bounce a softer additional light and enhance the amount of available light on the subject. They can however also be used as one element within an overall lighting setup when using a flashgun.

Using a reflector is relatively straightforward, but there are many models and designs to choose from. Some are hand-held which can be used by the photographer or an assistant, while others are fixed to a lighting stand or are available in a kit with their own support system. All modern reflectors are collapsible which makes them lightweight and easy to carry, and they are available in a multitude of colour combinations from plain white, to silver, to gold, or to combinations of colours on either side. Whites and silvers will tend to be brighter, bouncing most light, whereas gold will result in a warmer colour on the subject.

At Park Cameras we have a wide range of reflectors available in our lighting accessories section – many of which are available to see and try in either of our two photographic showroom stores.
