Gitzo GT5533S Systematic Series 5, 3-Section Carbon Tripod Summary
Not only is Systematic Gitzo’s strongest and most stable tripods, they’re also modular, with a top casting element that opens and closes to allow each tripod to be configured with a flat disk, geared or sliding centre column, video half-ball adaptor, levelling base or other Systematic accessories.
The latest range features Carbon eXact tubes, new ultra-stable feet and the Easy Link attachment, making the Systematic even more stable, versatile, and ergonomic. The Easy Link attachment (3/8’’ thread) allows the user to attach various accessories such as a Manfrotto arm to use lighting accessories.
Series 5 (top leg diameter 41.3mm) is the choice of the most demanding professionals, being the most rigid tripods in the whole Gitzo range. The top casting is larger than that of Series 3 and 4 Systematics in order to provide maximum stability. GT5533S is the 3 section model with standard height. It replaces GT5532S. Systematic is the choice of exacting professional photographers who use long lenses and heavy cameras.
Gitzo GT5533S Tripod In more detail
The Gitzo GT5533S Series 5 Systematic is a powerful, 3-section, professional carbon fibre tripod designed to securely support longer lenses and heavy cameras. Series 5 are Gitzo’s most rigid tripod and like the rest of the Systematic family, set the standard in terms of strength, stability and modularity. The GT5533S’ top casting element opens and closes, allowing each tripod to be configured with a flat disk, geared or sliding centre column, video half-ball adaptor, levelling base or other Systematic tripod accessories.
The tripod weighs 2.63 kg and supports a 42 Kg payload, whilst being perfect for macro thanks to reaching as low as 10 cm. The maximum height is up to 134 cm, and the GT5533S folds down to 62 cm for transportation and travel.
A highly reliable, versatile, portable solution, this model features Gitzo’s Carbon eXact tubes with G-Lock Ultra twist-locks that solidly connect the leg sections and protect them from dirt damage. New, ultra-stable, removable feet make this support even more secure. The Easy Link attachment provides enhanced versatility and ergonomics, enabling users to attach a wide array of optional accessories, such as a Manfrotto arms, LED lighting, recorder/monitors, and similar.
With a top leg diameter of 41.3 mm, the mighty, 3-section GT5533S has larger top casting than Series 3 and 4 Systematic models to ensure maximum stability. It replaces the GT5532S and is the tripod of choice for the world’s most demanding professional photographers who want impeccable support for heavier professional equipment and longer lenses.

Condition guide
Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
