The Z30 is a massive step-up from a smartphone, capable of capturing beautiful videos and stills to impress any audience, boasting a crop format (DX) CMOS sensor with around 20.9 megapixels. You can create content day or night with the Z30 thanks to high ISO capabilities of ISO 25,600 for video and ISO 51,200 for photos and the base ISO 100 delivers crisp, clean images in bright settings.
Unmissable video performance
Using the full width of the camera sensor, the Z30 records up to 125 minutes of uninterrupted high quality 4K 30p movies or high speed 120p Full HD for slow motion effects. You can also shoot timelapse and other content, while seeing 100% field of view for easy subject framing. You can create footage with clarity and excellent depth of field for top-class vlogging and streaming.
Powerful features for content creators
Everything content creators need is packed into the compact 405g camera body, which has a deeper ergonomic grip for comfortable handholding. Record audio with built-in stereo microphones or add your favourite external camera mic, like the super lightweight Rode VideoMic GO.
If you livestream to your audience, Nikon includes their free live stream software and the camera can be powered with the USB cable for uninterrupted power while vlogging and streaming.
For selfie content, high and low angles the Z30 includes a 3-inch vari-angle touchscreen monitor which has a clean interface and intuitive controls. Self portrait mode is automatically activated when the LCD is turned forwards, after which the screen becomes uncluttered for a clear view to frame yourself. Settings can be saved separately for stills and video too, with easy switching between different content types.
A deep grip and Nikon’s eVR (electronic vibration reduction) help to keep movies looking smooth and steady even when you run and gun. To make sure creators know when the camera is recording there’s a red border and red light confirmation, while the movie record button on top of the camera is always to hand.

Our Verdict
This kit makes a great choice for anyone starting out in photography and video making, or perhaps moving from a compact. The Z30 packs plenty of features in an ultra compact Nikon mirrorless format to ensure you’ll be able to capture brilliant images and 4K movies in 30fps or even super slow motion 120fps in Full HD. The two lenses offer versatile zooms in a perfect combination, with a standard focal range of 24-70mm and telephoto 100-375mm in full-frame equivalent. This offers great reach with virtually any subjects covered, including everything from landscapes and portraits to street photography and vlogging.
If you want to vlog and take selfies the Z30 is perfect as the flip-out screen automatically detects when it’s facing you and there are several connections for professional accessories like a microphone to elevate your content. Autofocus harnesses Nikon’s human and animal detection, which will keep your subjects sharp even when they move across the frame and low light performance is strong with a high maximum ISO combined with Vibration Reduction (VR) found in both lenses. Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
