NEWS UPDATE: 20 February 2024 Fujifilm X Summit Announcements

The eagerly awaited Fujifilm X Summit commenced in Tokyo on February 19th, 2024, extending into the 20th for UK viewers. This event saw several key announcements from Fujifilm, setting the stage for exciting developments in the photography world for 2024.

  1. Undoubtedly, the highlight of the 2024 Tokyo event is the unveiling of the sixth-generation X100VI Digital Camera in black and X100VI Silver variants. This generation is packed with upgrades over its predecessor, and you can discover more in our comprehensive Fujifilm X100VI review.
  2. Fuji's next announcement outlined the development of a new X mount lens, the XF16-50mm F2.8-4.8. It is being engineered to complement the resolution of fifth-generation X series cameras, and surpasses the capabilities of standard kit lenses, offering enhanced performance and versatility at an attractive price.
  3. Fujifilm X App version 2 is also in development, which adds new equipment and features for camera remote control and image sharing.
  4. Fuji also announced that fifth generation X series cameras can expect a firmware update to be ready in spring of 2024, which will cover the latest focus systems amongst other software updates.
  5. The REALA ACE colour profile will also be added to X-H2S, X-H2, X-T5 and X-S20 cameras, having been seen on the X100VI, after launching on the GFX100 II.
  6. The firmware update will also add the ability to connect to frame.io for the X-H2S and X-H2 without needing the FT-XH file transmitter, which again is available on the latest X100VI camera.
