The compact recorder captures up to six tracks (four iso-tracks plus a stereo mix) with sample rates up to 192 kHz and includes the largest microphones ever used on a handy recorder. The mics measure 19.4 mm and are capable of handling up to 140 dB SPL.
Larger capsules deliver impressive depth, wide dynamic range, and rich detail across the whole frequency spectrum. Dual XLR/TRS combo inputs support +48 V phantom power, while a 3.5 mm stereo input and capsule expansion system broaden its creative scope. The Largest Mics Ever on a Handy Recorder
Its 19.4 mm microphones capture audio with excellent frequency response, handling up to 140 dB SPL with wide dynamic range. The increased capsule size produces recordings with greater depth and clarity.
F-Series Power, Now in Your Hands
The H5 studio uses Zoom’s F-series preamps for cleaner audio with a -127 dBu EIN noise floor. Dual AD converters and 32-bit float provide 132 dB of dynamic range, capturing quiet and loud sounds without noise or distortion.
Complete Control, Zero Clipping
The recorder supports both 32-bit float and 16/24-bit formats. 32-bit float prevents clipping but can require post-production, while 16/24-bit removes that need but requires careful gain adjustment. The H5 studio combines both, with 32-bit float and dedicated gain knobs to ensure no clipping and no need for post work.

Capture up to six tracks simultaneously (four isolated tracks plus a stereo mix) at sample rates up to 192 kHz.

Next Generation Capsule System
The H5 studio’s 3.0 Capsule System supports 32-bit float recording and provides flexibility to use different microphone capsules as needed. Compatible capsules include SSH-6e and EXH-6e.

Interchangeable capsules expand recording possibilities for different setups and environments.
Waveforms and Levels
A full-colour LCD screen displays input levels and real-time waveforms, allowing easy monitoring and adjustment while recording.

USB Audio Interface
The H5 studio functions as a 4-in/2-out USB audio interface for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. It supports both 32-bit float and 16/24-bit recording, enabling live streaming while simultaneously recording a backup to microSD.
Sync Smarter
The optional TCA-1 timecode adapter can generate and output timecode, or jam to an external clock. It also receives wireless timecode from the ATOMOS UltraSync BLUE. (TCA-1 or BTA-1 required.)
Wireless Control
Using the Zoom Handy Control & Sync app for iOS, you can remotely control multiple recorders, manage start/stop recording, and synchronise timecode. Compatible with H2essential and H5 studio models.
Premium Features
The device includes mono mode for interviews and vocals, a low-cut filter to reduce low-frequency noise, normalisation, and exporting audio files in 24-bit or 16-bit WAV formats. Variable speed playback (0.5–1.5×) and A-B repeat are supported, along with a recording start tone for DSLR audio alignment.
Up to 2 TB of Storage
The recorder accepts microSDHC or microSDXC cards up to 2 TB (sold separately).
Power Up
Operates for up to 15 hours on four AA alkaline batteries. It can also be powered via USB or an AC adapter (sold separately, AD-17).
Accessibility
Menus include audible descriptions for visually impaired users, accessible through the built-in speaker or headphones. Supported languages are English, Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Italian and Chinese.

Condition guide
Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.

The number of tests depends on the individual product but we are confident in this product having tested all the major functions.
