Product features in detail
Sensor
The new 20.9 megapixel DX format APS-C sensor captures vivid colours and tones and together with Nikon's new EXPEED 5 engine offers low levels of noise and maximum processing power.
ISO
The D500's huge ISO range means it performs exceptionally well in low-light conditions and sets a new standard for what digital SLR cameras can capture.
4K video
4K resolution UHD video is included at up to 30p (3840x2160), as well as full HD 1080/60p video at various frame rates, so is of a high enough quality for professional productions. This results in recording times of up to 29 minutes 59 seconds, and the ability to record in-camera 4K time lapse movies is also available.
LCD screen
The tilting 3.2 inch / 8cm 2359k-dot touch screen LCD monitor provides ultra clear images and its 3-axis hinge allows for comfortable shooting from various angles. A variety of functions are available, including touch AF and shutter in still shooting, and instant switching of images using the frame advance bar and text input.
focusing
The new Multi-CAM 20k autofocus sensor is comprised of 153-point autofocus system (99 cross sensors) that is also found in the Nikon D5 which ensures excellent subject acquisition in a variety of situations and fills the frame from edge to edge, so tracking and locking onto subjects is easy and accurate. Autofocus capability extends to -4EV with the central point, and -3EV with others, so AF works well in low-light conditions and on low-contrast subjects.
Continuous shooting
With approximately 10fps continuous shooting - up to 200 shots in 14-bit lossless compressed RAW - capturing that decisive moment is effortless and reliable. Moving subjects are accurately tracked across a wide field of view, thanks to the widest diagonal viewing angle so far seen at approximately 30.8°.
Smart device sharing
The included SnapBridge support allows you to connect the D500 to your smart device using its built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for continuous wireless communication, making it quick and simple to share your images, upload them to NIKON IMAGE SPACE, and eliminating the need to reconnect your devices.
