Leica M11-D Digital Rangefinder Camera Black Paint Finish Summary
The Leica M11-D Digital Rangefinder Camera Black Paint Finish features a chic design, which is ideal for purist photographers who want the same experience as they enjoy with an analog M-series rangefinder.
The camera prioritises a discreet design for street photography and reportage, with the Red Leica logo deleted in favour of an iconic black finish, with a Leica thread pull logo engraved into the aluminium top cover. The rear LCD screen has been replaced by a large ISO dial rotating between ISO 64 and 50,000, while the stealthy body boasts a scratch resistant black paint finish for even greater durability. It also houses a dark chrome viewfinder rather the silver chrome found in the regular Leica M11, black.
This is the second Leica camera to feature Content Credentials (CAI) after the M11-P, paving the way for photographers to authenticate their work against any scrutiny. Internal memory has been expanded from 64GB to 256GB, catering to the high-resolution CMOS Sensor with Triple-Resolution technology, which includes a 60 megapixel maximum.
All other features remain consistent with the regular model, retaining the high-speed Maestro III processor, comprehensive iPhone and iPad integration as well as excellent battery performance from the BP-SCL7 black battery.
Leica has developed exclusive accessories to accompany the M11-D, including the M11-D Carrying Strap Black Leather or M11-D Carrying Strap Cognac Leather, plus an M11-D Halfcase in Black Leather.

Leica M11-D Camera in More Detail
Iconic Dark Design
In keeping with the styling of previous models such as the Leica M-D Typ 262 (2016) and M10-D (2018), the M11-D brings a series of design updates to refine the shooting experience, while enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the camera. Updates include:
- Removal of LCD screen in favour of an ISO dial on the rear
- Scratch resistant black paint finish
- Aluminium top cover, which houses an engraved Leica thread pull logo
- Dark chrome viewfinder
The M11-D body is noticeably lighter than some M models, with a focus on efficiency and ergonomics, while maintaining Leica’s highly desirable aesthetics.
Triple Resolution M-Sensor Versatility
The Leica M11-D includes the same full-frame BSI CMOS colour sensor with Triple Resolution Technology and advanced imaging capabilities as the M11 and M11-P. With a native ISO range between 64 to 50,000, it delivers well-controlled results with minimal noise and a wide dynamic range, making it suitable for any lighting conditions.
Leica’s innovative Triple Resolution Technology provides unmatched quality and versatility, allowing you to shoot at 60, 36, or 18 megapixels, while utilising the full sensor area. The table below shows which files, resolutions and formats are available with the M11-D.

Maestro III Processor
The M11-D’s responsive performance is driven by Leica’s powerful Maestro III processor, which enables the camera to shoot in three different resolutions, while always using the full sensor. Thanks to its efficient design, you can capture nearly limitless shots, even at 36-megapixel DNG resolution, without slowing down.
Advanced Metering
Exposure metering is performed by the image sensor in both Live View and rangefinder modes. TTL metering is available with working aperture, offering Spot, Centre-weighted, and Multi-field options, along with Aperture priority and Manual modes.
Wide ISO and Dynamic Range
Thanks to Dual Pixel Gain technology, the M11-D excels in virtually any lighting conditions, offering up to 15 stops of dynamic range at base ISO 64. Every shot captures fine tonal details with minimal noise for a natural signature look. With a maximum ISO of 50,000, you can also shoot confidently in extremely low light environments, while the electronic shutter features speeds up to 1/16000s, which makes it easier to shoot in bright conditions with fast Leica M lenses.
Leica M Lens Ecosystem
With countless lens options available for the Digital Rangefinder system, users are spoilt for choice when selecting their next focal length. Even lenses made from 1954 onwards can be used without compromise. Whether you opt for a second-hand Leica lens or the newest model, you can experience the full creative freedom that a Rangefinder provides.
New and existing Accessories
Accompanying the launch of the M11-D in 2024 is a handful of new camera accessories, which complement the logo-free black body design. These include a choice of two straps, and a half case to protect the camera body.
Perhaps the most essential existing accessory is the Leica Visoflex 2 Electronic Viewfinder, which provides three angles with a high resolution OLED screen.
Leica FOTOS app and Latest Connectivity
The M11-D comes with future-proof connectivity from the outset, such as 5 GHz WiFi, Bluetooth v4.2 and Geotagging via Leica FOTOS app. The app connects the camera seamlessly to your smartphone or iPad via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, enabling the transfer of images, camera remote control and the ability to view, edit and share pictures in various formats.
