With a design created exclusively for full-frame mirrorless cameras, the Laowa 90mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO Lens for L-Mount delivers exceptional image quality from a compact and lightweight 619g body. The apochromatic optical design (APO) works even when shooting at the high 2:1 magnification at infinity, with extremely sharp, well controlled images showing minimal chromatic aberration, purple fringing or ghosting.
You can capture beautiful close-ups of insects, flowers or any other subjects at twice the magnification and the prime affords excellent low light performance from a wide f/2.8 aperture. Sharpness is high even shooting wide open all the way through to f/8 and f/11, which is ideal for macro work. Laowa also created a 13 bladed aperture diaphragm, which help to render smooth out of focus areas and pleasing rounded bokeh. At 90mm this f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO Lens is an excellent choice for portraits and similar short telephoto subjects, where sharpness and control subject separation are desirable.

2:1 magnification
With up to 2x magnification you can capture extremely fine details of your subject, perfect for tiny insects, flowers, textures and close-up shots of all kinds. The magnification ranges from 0.1x to 2x while focusing as close as 20.5cm to infinity, with a maximum 2:1 for astonishing images of different sizes.
Apochromatic APO Design
The apochromatic APO optical design delivers superb results from minimum focus distance to infinity. You also see well controlled images across the aperture range even wide open and through all magnifications.

The 90mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO is designed exclusively for mirrorless systems with a shorter flange distance. The result is lightweight with the lens weighing around 619g and approximately 120mm long, perfect for full-frame L mount camera bodies.
High levels of sharpness
The 13 element design includes three extra-low dispersion elements, providing high optical quality with outstanding results from corner to corner. Sharpness is perceptible even when wide open, right through to f/8 and even f/11 and the lens demonstrates great contrast to match the resolution.
Beautiful bokeh rendition
The 13 bladed aperture design in the Laowa 90mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO Lens renders pleasing rounded bokeh balls and smooth out of focus areas when desirable. This is ideal for capturing close-ups and portraits, when being used as a short telephoto prime portrait lens. Internal focusing also helps to maintain length and weight distribution, whilst reducing the chances of accidentally knocking into your subject. This also contributes to keeping dust out of the lens.

Our Verdict
Laowa has an extensive catalogue of accomplished macro lenses for all camera systems, with this 90mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO Lens providing a great choice within the L-Mount lens range. It combines an extremely high 2x maximum magnification ratio with extremely high quality results. These are derived from the optical formula, which includes special lens elements as well as the APO apochromatic design. These combat image artefacts including chromatic aberrations, colour fringing and ghosting with excellent results, which not only provides impressive images, but reduces your editing time.
Sharpness is noticeably high across the frame, even when shooting wide open at f/2.8 and is maintained all the way to f/8 and beyond, which is particularly useful for macro photography. The aperture opening is made of a 13-bladed design, which renders pleasingly rounded bokeh and smooth out of focus areas when required. This allows you to isolate your subject and experiment with depth of field, when shooting anything from nature to portraits or product images.

Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
