GoPro MISSION 1 PRO ILS Compact Cinema Camera Summary
The GoPro MISSION 1 PRO ILS Compact Cinema Camera uses the same 50MP one-inch sensor and GP3 processor as the flagship model, but introduces an interchangeable Micro Four Thirds lens mount, expanding how the camera can be used across different shooting scenarios.
MISSION 1 PRO ILS supports up to 8K60 video, 4K240 slow motion and high-speed 1080p capture, alongside 8K30 and 4K120 Open Gate recording. The addition of an interchangeable lens system allows the camera to be paired with a wide range of optics, including wide-angle, telephoto and macro lenses, as well as adapted lenses.
Unlike the fixed-lens models in the range, this version operates as a compact system camera, combining high frame rate video capture with lens flexibility in a smaller, rugged body. It suits filmmakers and creators who need more control over composition, focal length and depth of field while retaining the durability and recording performance of the MISSION platform.
GoPro MISSION 1 PRO ILS Compact Cinema Camera In More Detail
Micro Four Thirds Lens Mount
The camera introduces an interchangeable Micro Four Thirds lens mount, allowing compatibility with a wide range of lenses including prime, zoom, telephoto and macro options. Lens adapters further extend compatibility with other systems.
50MP One-Inch Sensor
The camera uses the same one-inch 50 megapixel sensor found in the MISSION 1 PRO, combining 1.6µm native pixels with larger fused pixels in Quad Bayer mode. This increases light capture while maintaining detail across the frame, with support for up to 14 stops of dynamic range.
GP3 Processor
The GP3 processor is built on a 5nm architecture and includes an integrated neural processor for image processing. This supports video encoding, noise reduction and tonal balance while maintaining power efficiency during extended recording.
8K Video Capture
The MISSION 1 PRO ILS records 8K video at up to 60 frames per second in a 16:9 format. It also supports 4K at up to 240 frames per second and Full HD at higher frame rates for slow motion capture.
High Frame Rate Recording
High-speed recording includes up to 240fps at 4K and up to 960fps in 1080p burst capture, with standard high frame rate recording available at up to 480fps in 1080p.
Open Gate Video Recording
Open Gate recording uses the full sensor area in a 4:3 format, supporting 8K30 and 4K120 capture for flexible reframing across multiple aspect ratios.
Colour and Bitrate Control
The camera supports 10-bit colour recording with GP-Log2 and HLG HDR profiles. Bitrates can reach up to 240Mbps, with timecode sync available for multi-camera workflows.
Stabilisation
In-camera stabilisation is supported with compatible rectilinear prime lenses, allowing stabilised footage when using interchangeable optics.
Battery and Thermal Performance
The GP3 processor and updated battery system support extended recording times, with over five hours at 1080p30 and more than three hours at 4K30.
Weather-Resistant Construction
The camera features a weather resistant design to accommodate shooting in harsh environments.
Body Design
The camera uses a compact rectangular body with a deeper front section to accommodate the interchangeable lens mount. A metal mount plate with visible screws and alignment markers sits at the front, with the sensor visible behind when no lens is attached.
Controls and Display
A large rear display supports monitoring and playback. A top-mounted shutter button and raised side mode button provide direct control during handheld use.
Audio Capture
Audio is recorded through a four-microphone array designed to capture stereo sound while reducing wind interference. The system supports 32-bit float recording, with Bluetooth connectivity for wireless audio input.
Capture Modes
The camera includes multiple capture modes tailored to different scenarios, including:
- Video
- Low Light
- Slo-Mo
- HLG HDR
- Subject Tracking
- Looping
- Endurance.
Each mode adjusts processing and exposure settings to suit specific shooting conditions.
Time Lapse Modes
Time lapse options include standard and night time lapse, along with creative modes such as star trails, light painting and vehicle light trails. These are designed for both static and motion-based capture.
Connectivity
Mission 1 Pro ILS supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless control and data transfer. It connects to the GoPro Quik app for remote operation, media management and cloud backup.
