DJI Mic Mini 2 (2TX + 1RX + Charging Case) Summary

The DJI Mic Mini 2 (2TX + 1RX + Charging Case) is a two-person wireless microphone kit for recording with cameras, smartphones, tablets and computers. It is the most complete kit in the Mic Mini 2 range, combining two transmitters, a receiver, charging case and core accessories for multi-device workflows.

Each transmitter weighs approximately 11g without the magnetic clip or magnet, supporting discreet use for interviews, vlogging, livestreams and travel recording. The system records omnidirectional 48kHz 24-bit audio and includes three voice tone presets, two noise cancelling levels, automatic limiting and safety track recording for consistent capture across different environments.

With the DJI Mic Mini Receiver, transmission reaches up to 400m in open, unobstructed and interference-free conditions, while the charging case extends total operating time to 48 hours[8][9][12].

Overview and Key Improvements

This second-generation system extends transmission distance to up to 400m when used with the included receiver, increasing usable range for outdoor and event recording[12]. Battery performance is expanded, with transmitters operating up to 11.5 hours and the receiver up to 10.5 hours, while the charging case extends total runtime to 48 hours[8][13].

Audio control is expanded with three selectable voice tone presets and two levels of noise cancellation, allowing adjustment to different recording conditions[4][5]. Automatic limiting and safety track recording add protection against clipping, reducing the risk of unusable audio during unpredictable recordings[6].

DJI Mic Mini 2 (2TX + 1RX + Charging Case) In More Detail

Magnetic Covers

The transmitters include interchangeable magnetic front covers in Obsidian Black and Glaze White as standard, with additional multi-colour magnetic covers and windscreens available separately[1]. DJI also offers Time Series magnetic front covers created in collaboration with illustrator Victo Ngai, featuring four themed designs representing stages of creativity.

Transmitter Design

Each transmitter measures 28.58×28.04×13.52mm and weighs approximately 11g without the magnetic clip or magnet[9]. The body supports clip-on and magnetic attachment using the included clip and magnet. The clip rotates, allowing positioning sideways or inverted while maintaining alignment with the sound source.

Charging Case Storage

The charging case stores two transmitters, one receiver and accessories. It supports storage of two windscreens, two magnetic clips, two magnets, two magnetic covers or one 3.5mm TRS cable, along with the mobile adapter. Only one of the magnet, clip or cable can be stored in specific sections at a time. The case measures 106.30×42.50×59.20mm and weighs approximately 159.3g.

Mixed Device Pairing

The receiver supports connection with up to two transmitters. The DJI Mic Mini Receiver pairs with Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2 transmitters. When used with the DJI Mic Series Mobile Receiver, green mode supports Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2, while blue mode allows mixed pairing with Mic Mini 2, Mic Mini, Mic 2 and Mic 3 transmitters[3].

Wireless Transmission

Audio is transmitted using a GFSK 2Mbps system on 2.4GHz frequencies. Transmission reaches up to 400m in open, unobstructed conditions with the included receiver[12]. With a mobile receiver, range is up to 300m in green mode and 200m in mixed blue mode.

Audio Capture

The system records omnidirectional audio with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz and a maximum sound pressure level of 120dB SPL. Equivalent noise is rated at 24dBA. Recording is captured at 48kHz 24-bit for consistent audio capture across a wide dynamic range.

Voice Tone Presets

Three selectable presets adjust tonal output. Regular provides balanced sound, Bright enhances high frequencies, and Rich increases low-frequency presence[4].

Noise Cancellation

Two levels of noise reduction are available. Basic reduces low-level background noise, while Strong reduces higher ambient noise levels[5]. When connected directly to a phone, Strong mode is applied by default.

Automatic Limiting

Automatic limiting reduces gain when input levels are too high, preventing clipping during recording[6].

Safety Track

Safety track records a secondary audio track at -6dB alongside the main track, providing a backup if levels peak unexpectedly.

Gain Adjustment

Receiver gain is adjustable across five levels using a physical dial for quick control during recording.

Low Cut

Low cut attenuates frequencies below 100Hz to reduce low-frequency noise. It is enabled through the DJI Mimo app and is unavailable during direct Bluetooth connection.

Windscreen

Included windscreens reduce wind noise during outdoor recording. Additional multi-colour windscreens are available separately[1].

OsmoAudio Direct Connection

Transmitters connect directly to supported DJI devices including Osmo Pocket 3, Osmo 360, Osmo Nano and Osmo Action 6 without a receiver[7].

Battery Performance

Transmitters operate up to 11.5 hours and the receiver up to 10.5 hours. The charging case extends total system runtime to approximately 48 hours with up to 3.6 recharge cycles.

Power Management

Fast charging provides approximately one hour of use from a five-minute charge[14]. The system supports automatic sleep, auto power-off after 15 minutes and camera-synchronised power on/off.

Bluetooth Connection

Transmitters support Bluetooth 5.3 for direct smartphone connection. Recording is supported in compatible third-party apps.

Wired Monitoring

The mobile receiver supports wired monitoring via USB-C with compatible analogue headphones, with output rated at 20mW at 1kHz with a 32Ω load.

Device Compatibility

The receiver connects to cameras via 3.5mm TRS and supports smartphones, tablets and computers. It can draw power from a connected device or external power source. Lightning connection requires a separate adapter.

Firmware Updates

Firmware and settings are managed through the DJI Mimo app via USB-C or Bluetooth. The receiver supports updating two transmitters simultaneously.

Use Cases

The system supports recording in a range of scenarios including interviews, live events, travel and outdoor activities, supporting clear speech recording in both quiet and noisy environments.
