DJI Mic Mini 2 (1TX +1 Mobile RX + Case) Summary
The DJI Mic Mini 2 (1 TX + 1 Mobile RX + Charging Case) is a single-transmitter wireless microphone kit for creators recording with smartphones and compatible USB-C or Lightning devices. It combines one transmitter with a plug-in mobile receiver and compact charging case, providing a simple setup without cables or a camera-mounted receiver.
The transmitter weighs approximately 11g without the magnetic clip or magnet, making it suitable for vlogging, voice recording and social content where a discreet microphone is preferred. It records omnidirectional 48kHz 24-bit audio and supports voice tone presets, noise reduction, automatic limiting and safety track recording.
The mobile receiver connects directly to a phone for plug-and-play recording, while the transmitter can also connect directly to supported DJI devices via OsmoAudio or to smartphones via Bluetooth. The included charging case provides approximately 1.3 recharge cycles, extending total operating time to up to 24 hours in mobile workflows.
Overview and Key Improvements
This second-generation system introduces expanded audio control with three selectable voice tone presets and two levels of noise reduction, allowing adjustment across different recording environments[4][5]. Automatic limiting reduces clipping when audio levels peak, improving reliability during unpredictable recordings[6]. Direct connection via DJI OsmoAudio enables recording without a receiver when using supported DJI devices, simplifying mobile and action workflows[7]. The mobile receiver supports mixed pairing across multiple DJI Mic generations, extending compatibility for creators working across different setups[3].
DJI Mic Mini 2 (1TX +1 Mobile RX + Case) In More Detail
Magnetic Covers
The transmitters include interchangeable magnetic front covers in Obsidian Black and Glaze White, with additional multi-colour covers and windscreens available separately[1]. Time Series covers are also available, featuring illustrated designs representing stages of creativity.
Transmitter Design
Each transmitter measures 28.58×28.04×13.52mm and weighs approximately 11g without the magnetic clip or magnet[9]. The detachable clip rotates, allowing positioning in different orientations while maintaining alignment with the sound source.
Mobile Receiver
The DJI Mic Series Mobile Receiver connects directly to smartphones via USB-C or Lightning adapter. It supports plug-and-play audio recording removing the need for cables or a camera-mounted receiver.
Wireless Transmission
Audio is transmitted using a GFSK 2Mbps wireless system operating on 2.4GHz frequencies. When used with the mobile receiver, transmission distance reaches up to 300m in open, interference-free conditions and up to 200m in mixed pairing modes[12].
Audio Capture
The system records omnidirectional audio with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz and a maximum sound pressure level of 120dB SPL. Equivalent noise is rated at 24dBA. Recording is captured at 48kHz 24-bit.
Voice Tone Presets
Three selectable presets adjust tonal output. Regular provides balanced sound, Bright enhances high frequencies and Rich increases low-frequency presence[4].
Noise Cancellation
Two levels of noise reduction are available. Basic reduces low-level background noise, while Strong reduces higher ambient noise levels[5].
Automatic Limiting
Automatic limiting reduces gain when input levels are too high, preventing clipping during recording[6].
Safety Track
Dual-track recording captures a secondary track at -6dB alongside the main track, providing backup audio in variable conditions.
Gain Adjustment
Gain can be adjusted through the DJI Mimo app when using the mobile receiver, allowing control of recording levels in different environments.
Low Cut
Low cut attenuates frequencies below 100Hz to reduce low-frequency noise and is enabled through the DJI Mimo app.
Windscreen
Included windscreens reduce wind interference when recording outdoors. Additional colour options are available separately[1].
OsmoAudio Direct Connection
Transmitters connect directly to supported DJI devices including Osmo Pocket 3, Osmo 360, Osmo Nano and Osmo Action 6 without a receiver[7].
Bluetooth Connection
Transmitters support Bluetooth 5.3 for direct smartphone connection, allowing recording and livestreaming in supported third-party apps. Native camera apps are not supported in this mode.
Battery Performance
Each transmitter operates for approximately 11.5 hours per charge under standard test conditions[13].
Charging Case
The DJI Mic Mini 2 Charging Case (1 TX + 1 Mobile RX) measures 78.8×33.07×44.70mm and weighs approximately 71g. It provides approximately 1.3 recharge cycles for a transmitter, extending total operating time to up to 24 hours in mobile workflows and storing transmitters, the mobile receiver and accessories in a single case.
Power Management
Fast charging provides approximately one hour of use from a five-minute charge under test conditions[14]. Automatic sleep and power-off functions reduce unnecessary battery usage.
Compatibility
The system supports connection with DJI Mic Mini, Mic Mini 2, Mic 2 and Mic 3 transmitters depending on pairing mode[3]. It connects directly to smartphones, tablets and computers via USB-C, with Lightning support available via adapter.
