DJI Air 2S Drone Summary
The new DJI Air 2S Drone is exciting for anyone after a travel-friendly drone to take epic aerial landscape photos and videos. It arrives packing a new 1-inch sensor with powerful autonomous functions in a compact drone weighing less than 600g. The larger sensor lets you continue shooting even as light levels dip and that includes making smooth 5.4K at 30fps and high speed 4K at 60fps videos.

The Air 2S has been updated with DJI’s latest technology to provide even better quality video and RAW images at 20MP working better in low light thanks to 12.6 stops of dynamic range. Intelligent HDR will also merge multiple shots automatically for excellent results straight out of camera and of course we have hyperlapse and panorama functionality off the bat for advanced content functionality. Getting images and footage is easier than ever with the new MasterShots autonomous feature that gives users the best shots in any location with just a tap.
Updated safety flying features have been added to the Air 2S Drone for less stress caused by 3rd party obstacles includes. These include improved Advanced Pilot Assistance System (APAS 4.0) and obstacle sensing in 4 directions making it one of the safest drones we stock.
DJI Air 2S Drone in More Detail
New 1-inch CMOS Sensor
The headline here is the introduction of a larger 20 megapixel sensor. This allows content creators to record the world in greater detail with more colours, even at dusk. The pixels themselves are larger too at 2.4μm (micrometers), which means they can capture more detail with more natural colours.
Sensational Stills and Video
The new sensor enables higher quality video to be recorded up to 5.4K/30fps using a 10-bit Dlog-M colour profile for up to one billion colours. Slow motion playback in smooth 4K is also possible at an impressive 60fps.
RAW images are available with a wide dynamic range of 12.6 EV stops. This creates stunning print-worthy images that compete with cameras and offers creative processing options for sunsets or any other low light situations. An automated Intelligent HDR feature will do all the hard lifting for you automatically if you don’t enjoy editing your images or need wider dynamic range straight out of camera.
Hyperlapse and Panorama
These popular content types are available automatically with the Air 2S for advanced time-lapse and ultra wide images. The list of smart autonomous features goes on with the new MasterShots feature.
MasterShots and FocusTrack
MasterShots is an advanced autonomous feature delivering superb shots in any location with just a tap from the pilot. Once the subject is selected the drone will film while performing ten different sequential manoeuvres, keeping the subject centre-frame and automatically generating a short cinematic video afterwards.
It’s easier all round to follow or circle subjects with FocusTrack features including Spotlight 2.0, ActiveTrack 4.0 and Point of Interest 3.0. These perform various automated flight patterns including spiralling with a close-up, smooth subject follows whilst avoiding obstacles and perfect circles around a subject.
Environment Sensing
The DJI Air 2S has four direction sensing: up, down, forward, and backward. The algorithms for Advanced Pilot Assistance System (APAS 4.0) have also been improved, allowing the Air 2S to autonomously avoid obstacles in more complex scenarios and at higher speeds.
O3 Transmission
The drone arrives with DJI's most advanced O3 (OcuSync 3.0) image transmission technology, delivering an ultra-smooth, clear and reliable image feed. This provides video transmission at up to 12km in 1080p using 2.4/5.8 GHz Dual Frequency via 4 Antennas.
Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B)
Industry-leading AirSense safety system provides an added layer of safety. This receives Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) flight location information from Airplanes and helicopters in the area that transmit ADS-B signals. The Aircraft are then displayed on a map along with audio and visual alerts through the DJI Fly app to help you keep your drone out of the way.

Our Verdict
The Air 2S is the ultimate drone currently available from DJI for aerial photographers on the move. The new 1-inch CMOS sensor is a game changer in a drone weighing just 600g as it provides incredible 5.4K movies at 30fps as well as substantially improved low light performance. One billion colours can now be captured with the 10-bit Dlog-M colour profile and stills are available in RAW with an impressive 12.6 stops dynamic range. If you’re a content creator these type of imaging capabilities will be highly desirable for prime content on YouTube and other platforms.
Safety is of course primary for drone flights and the DJI Air 2S comes with obstacle detection in four directions. This makes capturing your footage more enjoyable than ever, as do new autonomous flight features such as MasterShots, an evolution of DJI’s QuickShots. This upgraded flight feature puts your subject centre frame while the drone films with ten different manoeuvres in sequence. Getting cinematic drone footage in 5.4K or high speed 4K has never been easier or safer. Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
