Canon EOS R3 Camera with RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L Lens Kit Summary
The Canon EOS R3 Camera with RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L Lens Kit combines a high-performance full-frame mirrorless body with a fast standard zoom, creating a professional setup for stills and video. The EOS R3 sits just below the flagship in the mirrorless EOS R range, featuring a back-illuminated stacked sensor with DIGIC X processing to support high-speed capture, advanced autofocus and responsive handling.
Continuous shooting reaches up to 30fps with a top shutter speed of 1/64,000 sec, allowing fast action to be captured with minimal rolling shutter. Canon’s Eye Control AF and subject tracking provide intuitive control, enabling subjects to be selected simply by looking at them, while maintaining focus across the frame. The camera also records 6K RAW and oversampled 4K video, supporting hybrid workflows for professional content creation.
The Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM included in this lens kit provides a commonly used focal range for general-purpose shooting, with a constant f/2.8 aperture and up to 5 stops of optical stabilisation. Close focusing to 0.21m and a configurable control ring allow precise adjustments during shooting, making this kit suitable for weddings, events, portraiture and commercial work.

Canon EOS R3 Camera with RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L Lens Kit In More Detail
24.1 megapixel stacked full-frame sensor
The EOS R3 uses a back-illuminated stacked sensor which enables fast readout and reduced rolling shutter compared to conventional CMOS designs. This supports electronic shutter use at high speeds without distortion, particularly when capturing fast-moving subjects.
The sensor works with the DIGIC X processor to maintain image quality, dynamic range and colour accuracy across stills and video workflows, while supporting rapid continuous shooting.
Eye Control AF and subject tracking
Eye Control AF allows the photographer to select a subject by looking at it through the viewfinder. This provides a direct and responsive way to control autofocus points, particularly when working with multiple subjects in the frame.
Subject tracking recognises people, animals and vehicles, maintaining focus across the frame as subjects move. The system adapts to changes in speed and direction, supporting accurate focus during continuous bursts and video recording.
Up to 30fps shooting with electronic shutter
The camera supports continuous shooting at up to 30 frames per second using the electronic shutter, with autofocus and exposure tracking applied to each frame.
Fast sensor readout supports this speed while maintaining image integrity, which is useful for sport, wildlife and event photography where timing is critical.
Hybrid video performance
The EOS R3 records 6K RAW video and oversampled 4K footage, providing flexibility for editing and post-production. High frame rate recording supports slow motion workflows, while autofocus tracking remains active during recording.
This allows the camera to be used for both stills and video capture within the same workflow, without compromising performance.
Connectivity for professional workflows
Built-in Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity allow images and video to be transferred quickly from the camera. This supports time-sensitive workflows such as news and live event coverage.
Smartphone connectivity provides additional options for remote control and file transfer.
RF 24-70mm f/2.8L optical performance
The 24-70mm range is part of Canon’s professional ‘trinity’ zoom lens setup for advanced and professional creators. It provides a versatile focal range, allowing wide-angle compositions at 24mm and closer framing at 70mm. This supports a wide range of subjects without changing lenses.
The optical design includes aspherical and ultra-low dispersion elements to control aberrations and maintain sharpness across the frame. Air Sphere Coating reduces flare and ghosting in challenging lighting conditions.
Constant aperture and stabilisation in use
The constant f/2.8 aperture maintains exposure consistency while zooming and supports depth of field control for subject separation.
Optical image stabilisation provides up to 5 stops of correction, supporting handheld shooting in lower light conditions.
Real-world handling and workflow
The integrated vertical grip provides a balanced hold for both portrait and landscape shooting. Controls remain accessible in both orientations, supporting consistent operation during extended sessions.
The combination of camera and lens supports a flexible workflow, allowing photographers to adapt quickly to changing scenes without switching lenses.
Canon RF lens ecosystem
The Canon RF lens range is for EOS R mirrorless cameras, offering a wide selection of focal lengths, aperture ranges and designs to suit any application. The RF mount allows fast communication between lens and body, supporting responsive autofocus, stabilisation and consistent exposure control.
Optical performance is maintained across the frame, with designs that focus on sharpness, contrast and control over aberrations. Many include image stabilisation and close focusing capabilities, which expand their use across different types of photography and video.
The range includes compact everyday models, professional L-series optics and hybrid VCM designs with smooth aperture control and quiet autofocus. This gives users the option to create a system around their shooting style as needs evolve.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the EOS R3 and EOS R1?
The EOS R1 introduces a newer processing platform with DIGIC Accelerator, faster data handling and additional autofocus refinements such as Action Priority mode. The EOS R3 remains highly capable, with slightly lower burst rates and fewer advanced processing features.
Is the Canon EOS R3 good for professional sports photography?
Yes, the EOS R3 remains a strong option for sports and action, offering fast continuous shooting up to 30fps, advanced subject tracking and blackout-free shooting for consistent framing.
How does Eye Control AF improve shooting speed?
Eye Control AF allows autofocus points to be selected directly through the viewfinder using eye movement. This reduces the need to reposition focus points manually, which is useful in fast-paced environments.
How does the R3 perform in low light?
The camera supports a maximum ISO of 102,400 and combines this with in-body stabilisation of up to 8 stops, allowing handheld shooting in challenging lighting conditions.
What memory card configuration does the camera use?
The camera includes one CFexpress Type B slot and one SD UHS-II slot, allowing flexible recording options including backup and overflow.
How does this kit compare to using a 70-200mm lens?
A 24-70mm setup supports general-purpose shooting with wider coverage, while a 70-200mm lens provides greater reach and closer framing for distant subjects.
Is the camera suitable for hybrid photo and video?
Yes, the camera supports 6K RAW and oversampled 4K recording, with continuous autofocus tracking available during video capture.
