Atomos Shogun AV-19 4K Monitor-Recorder-Switcher Summary
The Atomos Shogun AV-19 is a 19-inch rack-mounted 4K HDR monitor-recorder-switcher that combines multi-camera monitoring, ISO recording and live switching. The flagship device expands the Shogun platform beyond field monitoring into studio, broadcast and video village environments.
The large DCI-P3 display provides a reference screen for multi-camera productions, while four SDI inputs support simultaneous ISO recording alongside a fifth program output. Recording is available in Apple ProRes, ProRes RAW and Avid DNx formats to CFexpress media or external USB-C storage, which supports common post-production workflows without transcoding.
Built-in switching, monitoring tools and NDI HX3 over Ethernet allow Shogun AV-19 to operate as a compact production hub, whether used in a rack, OB or fixed studio. Balanced XLR audio with phantom power, HDMI and SDI connectivity, and full LUT support make it suitable for professional crews managing live or recorded multi-camera output.

Atomos Shogun AV-19 4K Monitor-Recorder-Switcher in More Detail
Display and technical monitoring
The 19-inch 4K HDR display provides a shared reference screen suitable for gallery, studio or video village use. Its DCI-P3 colour coverage supports consistent exposure and colour evaluation across multiple cameras, while the screen size allows several feeds to be viewed clearly at the same time.
Integrated monitoring tools including EL Zone false colour, waveform, vectorscope and focus peaking operate in real time, allowing technical checks without external scopes. Log footage can be viewed through LUTs, with support for 3D and .cube files, providing an accurate on-set or live viewing reference without affecting recorded files.
Recording and switching
Shogun AV-19 records up to four camera ISOs simultaneously, alongside a fifth program output generated by the internal switcher. This supports live delivery while retaining individual camera files for post-production.
Recording formats include Apple ProRes, ProRes RAW and Avid DNx, aligning with established broadcast and post workflows. Media can be captured to CFexpress cards or external USB-C drives, allowing longer recording durations and flexible storage options. Backup recording can run in parallel, supporting redundancy during live or event-based productions.
Connectivity
Video connections include 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI and HDMI, allowing mixed signal sources within a single system. Audio is handled through balanced XLR input with 48V phantom power, alongside embedded SDI and HDMI audio. Monitoring is available via built-in speakers and a headphone output, enabling confidence checks without additional hardware.
Network control
Native NDI HX3 support allows low-latency IP video transmission over Ethernet, reducing cabling in network-based or hybrid production setups. User-definable function buttons provide quick access to common monitoring or switching tasks, while integrated camera control on supported systems allows key exposure settings to be adjusted directly from the monitor interface.
