Product Summary

A second module turns every clear night into a more productive one. Fit it to an Atlas Single and both modules photograph the same galaxy, nebula or star cluster simultaneously, with Sky Twin combining their images automatically. You collect twice the light and reach equivalent results in approximately half the time.

Nothing about the upgrade is fiddly. It carries its own 80 mm apochromatic optics, Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, motorised autofocus and filter drawer, and connects through Sky Dock in under five seconds with no tools or manual alignment. Your familiar Gaia app, automated tracking and live stacking carry straight over, so faint deep-sky targets simply become easier to reach.

Double the Light, Half the Time

Two independent optical systems work at once, each capturing the same target through its own lens and sensor while Sky Twin combines the results automatically. In the same observing time, the system gathers twice the light. Use that to reach equivalent results in approximately half the time, or keep a long session running to pull more detail from faint galaxies, nebulae and other deep-sky subjects.

Apochromatic Optics

The 80 mm corrected-Petzval design uses four elements in three groups, including two fluorophosphate elements and one lanthanum element. This apochromatic construction minimises chromatic aberration for tight stars and clean colour across the frame.

A 360 mm focal length and fast F4.5 focal ratio balance light-gathering power with a generous field of view. The diffraction-limited design holds its sharpness across the visible spectrum and the entire image field.

Sensor: Built for Faint Light

A back-illuminated 1/1.2-inch Sony IMX585 STARVIS 2 CMOS colour sensor is matched to the optics for sensitive deep-sky imaging. It records 3840 × 2160 pixel (8.3 MP) frames with 2.9 µm pixels.

Save ready-to-share JPEGs, or export 16-bit FITS and TIFF files when you want full control over processing.

Sky Dock: Upgrade in Seconds

The module attaches to a compatible Atlas mount with a tool-free connection that locks in under five seconds. Alignment, power and data travel through one interface, so the two optical systems never need aligning by hand.

Once connected, the Gaia app manages automatic focusing, tracking and stacking as usual. Motorised autofocus and a retractable dew shield support dependable operation through long sessions.

Wider Creative Possibilities

Mosaic imaging with CovalENS extends the field of view to as much as 3.5° × 2° and produces images up to 24 MP. Multi-night acquisition lets you keep adding exposure time across successive sessions, which suits challenging subjects that reward patience.

Filters and Future Flexibility

The integrated drawer accepts standard 1.25-inch (31.75 mm) astronomical filters, so you can adapt to different targets and sky conditions. Compatible Vaonis filters are recognised automatically.

The modular platform is built to grow, with specialised planetary and monochrome modules planned.

Design, Manufacture and Warranty

Designed in France and manufactured in China, the module is covered by a five-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this upgrade my Atlas Single to Twin?

The additional imaging module enables dual-module Sky Twin operation on a compatible Atlas Single. Both modules capture the same target simultaneously. Confirm the required mounting accessories before purchasing.

Can I add a third module to Atlas Twin?

No. The mount supports a maximum of two imaging modules simultaneously. Twin already includes both, so this accessory is intended for owners of the Single configuration.

Can the two modules photograph different targets?

No. Sky Twin uses both modules on the same celestial target and combines their images automatically. They cannot independently image separate objects.

Will a second module affect battery life?

Vaonis quotes up to six hours with one module attached. A runtime for the dual-module configuration has not been specified, so allow for potentially shorter sessions or use a compatible external power source.

Can I use my existing filters?

Yes. The drawer accepts standard 1.25-inch (31.75 mm) astronomical filters, and compatible Vaonis filters are recognised automatically.
