The Sony UWP-D22/K33 Wireless Mic Kit includes the UTX-M40 handheld microphone with unidirectional capsule ideal for ENG/EFP jobs. Advanced digital audio processing technology from Sony has an improved transient response performance with high quality audio in an easy to set-up package. True double tuner diversity provides stable signal reception and the wireless mic accepts a wide range of capsules, even from third parties with a standard threading of 1.25”/28. The UWP-D22 connects to Alpha cameras via the Multi Interface MI shoe as well as with Sony pro video cameras using an optional SMAD-P5 Multi Interface (MI) Shoe Adaptor. This eliminates cables and allows you to monitor URX-P40 settings via the camera’s viewfinder, including low battery alert, RF Quality meter and audio mute status.

Auto Gain Mode
You won’t always know the volume of your talent’s voice in advance, so Auto Gain mode has you covered, which sets the gain moderately high, then uses a limiter to help prevent distortion.
+15 dB off-mic Audio Boost
The +15 dB boost resets the gain when the microphone is not near the person’s mouth, helping to avoid insufficient audio levels during interviews.
Line Input
Set the appropriate input levels with MIC/LINE switching levels and adjustable attenuators.
Channel Memory
The Channel Memory function excels when you’re using one receiver in combination with two transmitters, where you can instantly switch between the previously set channel and the current channel.
Transmitter Frequency Sent to Receiver
NFC communication relays transmitter settings such as frequency and compander mode directly to the receiver, making it easy to set up multiple receivers in combination with one transmitter.
Reduced Size and Weight
A new lighter design helps to avoid heavy receivers weighing down your camera or bulky transmitters getting in the way of your talent. The UTX-B40 bodypack transmitter and UTX-P40 plug-on transmitter are both 20% smaller than previous models. The combined URX-P40 receiver/SMAD-P5 adaptor is much shorter than the prior generation, making for a better fit with compact camcorders and digital interchangeable lens cameras.

Our Verdict
This Sony UWP-D22 kit comes with a high-quality dynamic cardioid capsule, and the handheld UTX-M40 mic can accept any of Sony’s DWX Series capsules, as well as third party offerings. The transmitter and receiver designs are around 20% smaller than previous models, making it a far more portable system without sacrificing audio quality. With Sony’s 24-bit digital compander signal processing you can hear transients with full force, retaining superb sound quality.
Transmitter and receiver frequencies can now be matched with the touch of a button, taking advantage of near field communication for easy set-up. The URX-P40 receiver enables you to reduce accumulated noise and distortion by skipping digital-to-analog conversion and subsequent analog-to-digital conversion in-camera. The system transmits at up to 72 MHz for versatile mobility and a wider choice of channels, for an all round superior audio tool with professional results.

Condition guide
Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.

The number of tests depends on the individual product but we are confident in this product having tested all the major functions. Anything that isn’t as you would expect, we then make a note of and show this in the condition notes on the page.
