The 28-60mm wide angle to standard focal width supports a broad range of subjects from street photography, travel and architecture to video capture, including interviews and ‘selfie’ pieces to camera. Excellent image and video quality is assured thanks to 3 aspherical optics and pleasing bokeh with smooth out of focus areas are achieved through the 7 bladed aperture.
The FE 28-60mm lens is weather sealed with moisture and dust resistance, making it ideal for shooters who work outdoors and are sometimes caught out by the weather. Eight elements are arranged into 7 groups which provide impressive optical performance for Sony cameras.
Fast and precise focusing is delivered by the Sony linear motor with quiet operation in both movie and stills image capture. When the lens is combined with the latest Alpha full-frame cameras, even fast-moving subjects can be confidently locked onto using AF features like Real-time Tracking and Real-time Eye AF.

Our Verdict
The FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 OSS lens from Sony was initially a kit lens however the popularity of this ultra-compact standard zoom has enabled us to release this model as a standalone option. With an extremely versatile focal range this model can be used for all manner of photography and video subjects including landscapes, cityscapes, portraits and general photography. Boasting three advanced optical elements from eight in total ensures crisp clean images and videos will be captured throughout the zoom range.
Autofocus is quick and quiet lending itself for many subjects when coupled with the advanced AF features found in Sony’s full frame mirrorless cameras. Hand holding is also possible as the light starts to dip as bodies now include excellent 5-axis images stabilisation which compensate for shake. Amateurs and enthusiasts looking for a cost effective, general purpose zoom which will be versatile enough to capture a wide range of subjects can now consider the FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 OSS Lens as an excellent option. The incredibly compact size and lightweight 167g mean that it sits perfectly on any camera including highly compact a7C models.

Condition guide
Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
