Product Summary
This hybrid kit combines a full-frame body featuring a 24.5MP partially stacked sensor with a compact, Contemporary series prime lens, creating a highly portable system for photography and filmmaking. The natural 50mm perspective, bright F2 aperture and beautifully crafted metal construction complement the minimalist FP2 camera, making this an excellent combination for portraits, street photography, travel and everyday content creation.
The body delivers advanced hybrid autofocus, 20 fps continuous shooting and 6K OpenGate recording for serious creative performance, while the dedicated STILL/CINE switch provides separate interfaces for each discipline. With 13 colour modes, internal storage and extensive modular accessories, the kit offers everything needed to start shooting straight away, with the modularity to develop into a professional cinema setup.
The Perfect Pair for Photography and Filmmaking
The included 50mm F2 DG DN Contemporary lens complements the camera’s compact proportions, creating a versatile kit that is easy to carry and enjoyable to use. A natural perspective suits everyday subjects, while the bright maximum aperture provides attractive background separation and greater flexibility in low light.
Part of Sigma’s Contemporary series, the lens features an all-metal exterior, a tactile aperture ring and a precision-engineered optical design that delivers excellent sharpness and contrast. Fast, quiet autofocus supports both stills and video, while the compact dimensions preserve the minimalist character of the body.
Photography
Full-frame image quality
The 24.5MP sensor delivers rich colour, smooth tonal gradation and impressive dynamic range, from portraits and landscapes to demanding low light.
Faster sensor, faster readout
The partially stacked design reads out quickly, which cuts rolling shutter distortion and supports quicker AF, rapid bursts and high-frame-rate video.
Hybrid AF with subject recognition
Combined phase and contrast detection offers improved speed, accuracy and low-light sensitivity. It recognises people, dogs, cats and birds, with Eye AF for moving subjects.
20 fps bursts
Shoot up to 200 JPEG or 180 DNG RAW frames in a single burst with the silent-ready electronic shutter, ideal for wildlife, action and fleeting moments.
13 colour modes. Switch looks instantly with the dedicated Color button. Sigma colour science powers presets from Powder Blue and Warm Gold to Teal and Orange, Forest Green and Sunset Red.
Cinema
Switch instantly between dedicated stills and cinema interfaces, with controls tailored to each discipline. The compact body works equally well for handheld documentary shooting and fully equipped production rigs. Waveform, zebra and false colour displays help assess exposure during filming.
6K OpenGate
Record the full sensor area, then deliver in any aspect ratio, including horizontal and vertical versions from a single clip.
6K at up to 59.94 fps
4K at up to 119.88 fps (crop mode) for slow motion
Up to 14.1 Stops of Dynamic Range
Achieved in 4K full-frame L-Log, with seven stops of highlight headroom at ISO 1250 and above for generous grading latitude.
12-bit ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ
Record at up to 6K/29.97p to a compatible external USB SSD. Both RAW formats require external storage, while L-Log provides a professional logarithmic workflow compatible with a wide range of grading software.
32-bit float audio
Wide dynamic range helps protect against sudden loud or quiet sounds and gives you room to adjust levels in post. Requires the optional HU-21 hot shoe unit and compatible Panasonic DMW-XLR2 or DMW-DMS1 audio equipment.
Director’s Viewfinder
Preview framing that simulates ARRI ALEXA 35, Sony VENICE 2, BURANO and numerous RED cameras. Anamorphic desqueeze supports specialist cinema lenses.
Handling and Expandability
Tilting 3.15-inch touchscreen
2.1-million-dot display tilts up 90° and down 45° for low and high viewpoints, without adding bulk.
Optional EVF-21
5.76-million-dot OLED with 0.88x magnification, connecting via USB-C. It tilts up 90° for eye-level or waist-level shooting and includes an eye sensor and interchangeable eyecups.
Optional LVF-21 LCD Viewfinder
A magnified, light-shielded view for critical composition and focus.
Longer battery life
The BP-91 battery delivers around 30% more endurance than the original fp, with approximately 370 photos or 130 minutes of video per charge.
70GB internal storage plus SDXC UHS-II slot
Store photos and supported video formats internally or on a memory card, with automatic storage switching available for still photography.
Modular by nature
Standard 1/4-inch mounting points on the sides and base support Sigma and compatible third-party accessories, from compact photographic setups to fully equipped cinema rigs.
Professional connectivity
Dual USB-C ports provide dedicated connections for the EVF-21 (upper) and 10 Gbps external SSD recording (lower), while full-size HDMI supports external monitoring. A 3.5mm microphone input and USB audio support external equipment, with headphone monitoring available via USB or the optional EVF-21.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it have in-body image stabilisation?
No. There is no sensor-shift stabilisation for still photography. Electronic image stabilisation (EIS) is available for video, while compatible stabilised lenses can provide additional support.
Which lenses are compatible?
It uses the L-Mount, supporting compatible full-frame lenses from manufacturers including Leica, Panasonic and Sigma. APS-C lenses can also be fitted, but use a 1.5x crop, reducing the recorded image area.
What does OpenGate recording offer?
It captures the full sensor area rather than cropping to a conventional widescreen format. This gives you more flexibility to create horizontal and vertical versions from the same footage, particularly useful when producing content for different platforms.
Can I record directly to an external SSD?
Yes. Compatible portable SSDs connect through the lower USB-C port, providing additional recording capacity and supporting ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ recording. There is also approximately 70GB of built-in memory and an SDXC UHS-II card slot for other supported formats.
Does it have a mechanical shutter?
No. It uses an electronic shutter exclusively. This allows silent shooting, although fast-moving subjects and certain artificial lighting conditions can produce rolling shutter distortion or banding.
Can I use an external flash?
Yes. The optional HU-21 hot shoe unit provides a flash terminal shared with OM SYSTEM and LUMIX, allowing compatible flashguns to be used. Check individual flash compatibility before purchasing.
