Product Summary

The Sigma 50mm F1.4 CL DG introduces a new lineage within the Contemporary series, combining the latest optical technology with a classic photographic aesthetic. Created for photographers who appreciate beautiful rendering as much as sharpness, it produces soft bokeh, rich tonal gradation and natural dimensionality that give portraits and everyday scenes a distinctive character.

A bright F1.4 aperture provides creative control over depth of field, while the new Rotary Direct Drive (RDD) autofocus system brings modern focusing performance to a traditional shooting experience. With tactile metal construction, an aperture ring and depth-of-field markings, this L-Mount prime brings together the pleasure of classic photography and the convenience of contemporary technology.

Soft Bokeh, Beautiful Rendering

Rather than prioritising sharpness alone, the optical design carefully controls aberrations to create smooth transitions between areas of focus and defocus. The result is rich, textured rendering with a natural sense of depth and a classic photographic character.

Eight elements in six groups, including three aspherical elements and one FLD element, contribute to its distinctive image quality.

A New Approach to Autofocus

Sigma’s new Rotary Direct Drive (RDD) system provides autofocus through a whole-lens extension focusing mechanism. Manual focus override offers additional control when refining focus for portraits, close compositions and creative photography.

Classic Handling, Modern Construction

The metal exterior combines a traditional appearance with tactile controls, including a dedicated aperture ring and depth-of-field scale. Dust- and splash-resistant construction adds reassurance outdoors, while a water- and oil-repellent front coating makes cleaning easier.
