Panasonic Lumix S 24-60mm f/2.8 Lens for L-Mount Summary
The Panasonic Lumix S 24-60mm f/2.8 Lens for L-Mount is a compact wide to standard zoom with a constant f/2.8 aperture and impressive optical performance for photo and video content. It is designed for full-frame Lumix cameras, and covers a versatile focal range from 24mm wide to 60mm short telephoto. This range is ideal for anything from landscapes and portraits to product shots and run-and-gun video. The zoom weighs only 544g and measures under 10cm long, which is ideal for hybrid creators who need a lightweight, high-quality option that won’t weigh them down.
Panasonic’s optical design for this L-mount lens delivers sharp, high-contrast images across the frame, with well controlled chromatic aberration and distortion. Close-up shooting is another strong point for the zoom, thanks to short minimum focus distances and high magnification across multiple focal lengths. It also boasts a circular 9-blade aperture that produces soft, rounded bokeh that enhances background separation in portraits and detail shots.
With customisable controls, a 77mm front thread, and weather-resistant seals, this is a portable lens that is a natural fit for the Panasonic Lumix S1 II and other bodies. Whether you capture stills or shoot 6K video, the 24-60mm f/2.8 delivers quality and versatility from a compact, rugged design.
Panasonic Lumix S 24-60mm f/2.8 Lens in More Detail
Advanced optical design
The Panasonic Lumix S 24-60mm f/2.8 features an optical design made up of 14 elements in 12 groups. This includes three aspherical elements to correct spherical aberration and distortion, while resolving high levels of sharpness throughout the zoom range. One UED (Ultra Extra-low Dispersion) and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses help to suppress chromatic aberration, contributing to clear, high-contrast results with reduced colour fringing.
Together, these elements deliver excellent resolution and contrast across the frame, and the lens is well suited for video capture as well as stills. The 24-60mm zoom range makes this a versatile all-rounder for the S1 II and other full-frame Lumix cameras, especially for hybrid users who want great image quality from a very compact package.
Close minimum focusing with high magnification
With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.19m at the wide end and 0.33m at the telephoto end, the Lumix S 24-60mm f/2.8 is an excellent choice for close-up stills and video. It also delivers high magnification throughout the zoom range, achieving 0.30x at 30mm, 0.25x at 24mm, and 0.22x at 60mm. This enables you to fill the frame with your subject and create dynamic compositions that draw the viewer into the scene.
A 9-blade circular aperture renders smooth out-of-focus areas with rounded bokeh highlights, helping to create soft, pleasing background separation from the subject. This makes the lens well suited for portraits, close-ups, and any scene where a shallow depth of field and defocus are desirable.
Portable size with professional build
Panasonic has created a zoom with a portable and lightweight design, which weighs approximately 544g and has a length of 99.9mm. This is complemented by a 77mm filter thread allowing for commonly found les filters such as a variable ND filter, circular polariser and others as required for your content creation.
A dust and splash resistant design with operation in freezing temperatures as low as -10℃ to 40℃ tops of the exterior features, although the lens is not guaranteed to be free from damage if it comes into contact with water.
