Nikon Z6 III Camera with Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S Lens Kit in More Detail
Partially stacked sensor
The Z6 III boasts a 24.5-megapixel partially stacked CMOS sensor with the EXPEED 7 processor. The faster scan speed shows as more responsive shooting bursts, faster movement tracking, and when panning through a scene. Nikon retained the 60fps during 20fps continuous shooting EVF refresh rate, so the view stays fluid when you are following action rather than dropping frames.
Viewfinder and screen
Nikon’s EVF is a 5,760k-dot panel with up to 4000 nits brightness and DCI-P3 colour gamut support. It gives a very bright live view that is usable outdoors, with easier to judge colour and contrast when reviewing shots on location.
The vari-angle rear LCD is a 2,100k-dot display, which is useful for low-angle shooting with an ultra-wide zoom, especially for interiors, architecture and landscapes where you are often shooting close to the ground.
Autofocus tracking with subject detection
The Z6 III inherits subject tracking behaviour from Nikon’s higher-end bodies, with 3D tracking and subject detection that covers people, animals, vehicles and aircraft, plus eye tracking even when the subject is small in the frame.
Burst capture and pre-release
For action sequences, the Z6 III supports burst shooting up to 120fps with AF and AE, with specific capture modes that record 10MP DX-format JPEGs at 120fps and 24MP FX-format JPEGs at 60fps. Pre-release capture is part of that workflow, which can help when timing is unpredictable and you are trying to catch the moment just before the shutter press.
Video recording formats
The Z6 III records 4K and 6K internally, including 6K/60p RAW and 5.4K/60p (YUV). Oversampled 4K UHD/60p is available from 6K, and the camera also offers 240p recording for 10x slow motion playback. Codec support on the body includes N-RAW, ProRes RAW HQ, ProRes 422 HQ, H.265 (HVEC) and H.264 (AVC), with 12-bit RAW and 10-bit log options listed for workflows that need grading latitude. The mic input can be used as a line-level input, and the camera includes a line-in audio port and timecode sync for multi-camera setups.
Stabilisation with focus point VR
The Z6 III includes 5-axis in-body stabilisation rated up to 8.0 stops for stills, plus E-VR for video. Focus point VR is also supported, which links stabilisation priority to the active focus point rather than correction across the frame. With an ultra-wide lens, that can be useful when the subject is away from centre and you want the stabilisation emphasis where it is most important.
Optical design and Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S handling
The Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S is Nikon’s ultra-wide S-Line zoom lens. It has a constant f/2.8 aperture through the zoom range, and a 16-element, 11-group optical design which includes four ED elements and three aspherical elements. Nikon also specifies Nano Crystal and ARNEO coatings to reduce ghosting and flare when shooting into strong light sources.
A key detail is the near-flat front element, which allows screw-in filters to be used, rather than requiring a bulbous front design that forces rear gel filters or bulky holders.
Close focus range
Minimum focus distance is 0.28m, with maximum magnification of 0.13x. For this type of lens, that supports compositions where you push a foreground element very close while keeping the wider scene in frame. It also gives more flexibility for detail work in interiors, where you may be working at short distances but still need a wide field of view.
Size, weight and ergonomics
The lens weighs 650g, with an 89mm diameter and 125mm length. On the Z6 III body it creates a manageable setup for long handheld sessions, and the weather-sealed construction is operational down to -10°C.
