The Leica Q2 Monochrom compact digital camera has been developed for photographers and connoisseurs to experience black and white photography in its purest form. The all new 47.3 megapixel sensor is capable of class-leading ISO performance, extendable from ISO 100 - 100,000. This allows the camera to excel in low light situations when coupled with the built-in Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH lens with Macro-Mode, which is the fastest lens in its class. 4K/30p and high speed 120p Full HD video is also available in this stylish and highly accomplished compact mirrorless camera.

Naturally this German made camera has been designed to be discrete, elegant and has the Red Dot logo removed as has become de rigueur for BW models, similar to the M10 Monochrom Digital Rangefinder. State of the art technology and a new microlens design result in a completely new monochrome sensor, exclusively developed for the Q2 Monochrom. The sensor captures 13 stops of dynamic range and performs excellently in low-light, delivering impressive image quality. The OLED viewfinder is particularly bright and provides improved contrast and picture quality for an enhanced viewing experience similar to the colour Q2 camera.
Leica Q2 Monochrom In more detail
Every component and all technical features in the Leica Q2 Monochrom are designed for premium quality. The discreet monochrome design is elegant and unobtrusive and a high resolution OLED viewfinder provides an ideal view and an exact live preview of black and white images. The brightness of each individual pixel in the OLED viewfinder is independently controlled, yielding improved contrast and picture quality. Power consumption remains low even with the strength of the high-resolution EVF.
Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH Lens
Leica has incorporated the fastest lens currently in any full frame Leica compact camera. With its 11 elements including 3 aspherical elements the Summilux 28 is capable of rendering very shallow depth of field, beautiful bokeh and incredible sharpness even in low light. With the 17 cm close focusing distance macro and close-up detail shots also become accessible, making for a versatile lens. The Summilux 28 mm ASPH. lens delivers superb optical performance for a wide range of photographic disciplines.

Our Verdict
The Leica Q2 Monochrom is an excellent choice for black and white lovers to use daily for street photography, portraits, landscapes, fine art and more. Leica users will find operation to be familiar and intuitive, with improved sleek menus, allowing the photographer to concentrate on the craft of making monochrome images and videos. The new full frame sensor captures impressive levels of detail with a huge 47.3 megapixels to work with, which is quite astonishing for a compact camera. The addition of 4K/30p movies as well as high speed 120p in Full HD enables creativity across mediums, even in low light. The camera is able to draw out 13 stops of dynamic range and ISO of 100 - 100,000 enables continued shooting throughout any lighting conditions.
Both LCD and EVF provide bright, clear viewing when composing or changing settings and AF is accurate as well as highly responsive. Leica users are not only interested in technical capabilities, but also the ‘Leica look’ for which they are so well known and the compact Q2 monochrome delivers this admirably. The fast f/1.7 wide angle lens collects light and renders high levels of detail, whilst capturing that familiar style within images. The inclusion of WiFi, Bluetooth and Leica FOTOS ensure connectivity is available from any situation. We must also mention the beautiful design of the camera itself, with matt black finish, black leather casing and engraved Monochcrom logo. This all combines in a beautiful and extremely capable compact camera which fits into a purse or jacket pocket that is ready to capture images at a moments notice.

Condition guide
Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.

This product has been thoroughly tested by our team of photographers and we are happy to give a 6 month warranty as a result. The number of tests depends on the individual product but we are confident in this product having tested all the major functions. Anything that isn’t as you would expect, we then make a note of and show this in the condition notes on the page.
