Hasselblad XCD 35-100mm f/2.8-4 E Lens Summary
The Hasselblad XCD 35-100mm f/2.8-4 E Lens expands the X System with a highly versatile standard zoom, which combines portability with Hasselblad’s flagship E Series optical performance. The lens covers a 35-100mm zoom range, which is equivalent to 28-76mm on full-frame cameras, equating to a 3x optical zoom. The lens replaces the need to carry multiple XCD lenses thanks to the ability to capture wide-angle to short telephoto subjects, catering to a variety of shooting styles.
The optical design uses 16 elements in 13 groups, including three aspherical and five ED elements, which deliver excellent resolving power and edge-to-edge sharpness. Hasselblad’s renowned colour science is fully supported, ensuring natural tones and accurate contrast straight out of camera when using this medium format XCD lens.
Autofocus performance is fast and precise thanks to a stepping motor, which works together with the latest AF technology found in the Hasselblad X2D II 100C and its AF-C tracking to keep moving subjects sharp. An integrated leaf shutter offers speeds from 1/4000s to 68 minutes, with full flash synchronisation at every shutter speed, enabling more precise control over lighting in natural and studio environments.
The lens measures just 133mm long and weighs in at 894g, which is 19% lighter and 10% shorter than the XCD 35-75mm, while also adding extended telephoto reach for street and travel photography. With a new 86mm filter thread and Hasselblad’s latest lens filters, this lens combines image quality, speed, and zoom flexibility for photographers who shoot multiple photographic genres.

Hasselblad XCD 35-100mm f/2.8-4 E Lens in More Detail
Optical Performance
The optical construction of 16 elements in 13 groups, including three aspherical and five ED elements, ensures exceptional resolving power with sharpness across the entire frame. Chromatic aberrations and distortion are well controlled, even at the extremes of the zoom range.
The f/2.8 maximum aperture at the wide end offers smooth, natural background blur, while f/4 at the telephoto end provides excellent subject separation and low-light usability, while ensuring that the zoom lens is still portable.
Autofocus performance
Autofocus is driven by a stepping motor that delivers smooth, accurate focusing. When mounted on the X2D II 100C the lens supports AF-C subject tracking, making it well-suited to capturing everyday environments such as street, travel and portrait photography. The integrated leaf shutter enables exposure speeds from 1/4000s to 68 minutes, while providing flash synchronisation at any shutter speed.
Handling and Build Quality
At 133mm long and just 894g, the XCD 35-100mm f/2.8-4 E is compact, balancing comfortably on X System cameras. Its design is 19% lighter and 10% shorter than the older XCD 35-75mm, offering improved portability for handheld medium format quality.

The Hasselblad XCD 35-100mm f/2.8-4 E Lens joins the XCD 20-35E F/3.2-4.5 to create another compelling choice for photographers who want the flexibility of a high quality E series optical zoom. The newer model spans 35mm wide-angle to 100mm medium telephoto (28-76mm full-frame equivalent), which is suitable for all manner of subjects such as landscapes, portraits, travel, and street.

The flagship optical design features 16 elements in 13 groups, which provides high resolving power, accurate colour reproduction, and smooth background separation, all qualities that will appeal to professionals and enthusiasts for a wide number of genres.
The integrated leaf shutter is a common valuable feature of XCD lenses, which provides exposure speeds between 1/4000s to 68 minutes while enabling flash synchronisation at every shutter speed.
