Fujifilm XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR MK II Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens Summary

Fujifilm has released the updated Fujinon XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR MK II ultra wide angle zoom lens with a number of enhancements which improve the second version considerably. The original lens is extremely popular but lacks weather sealing which has been addressed for the mark 2, which bears ‘WR’ for weather resistant. This will be extremely welcome with a number of users working in landscape photography, architectural or cityscapes where shooting will often continue during poor weather.

New lens features at a glance:

  • Weather resistant design
  • New f-stop scale on the aperture ring with auto-position lock
  • Slimmer focus and zoom rings reduce weight (the lens is 25g lighter at just 385g.)
  • Improved optical stabilisation with one more stop for 3.5 EV stops of compensation

With 35 other lenses in the X-mount lens range, this 36th model has culminated in a stylish, high resolving and essential ultra wide angle zoom. The internal optics are the same as the previous model with an advanced design employing four ED and four aspherical lenses. These deliver exceptional image quality with high resolving power as required by ever higher resolutions in the X-series camera range.

Our Verdict

Content creators who work outdoors will typically own at least one ultra wide angle lens and the new XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR MK II is certain to fulfil their needs. With fast and accurate focus, newly added weather sealing, a new stylish and lighter design there is a lot to like about this Mk II version.

Image and video results are as spectacular as with the previous version as the lens sports advanced optics and several special glass elements. It is also able to close focus down to just 24cm allowing users to create macro style close-ups with ultra wide angles. The constant f/4 aperture is bright enough to allow handheld shooting in low light situations such as may be required for environmental portraits or street photography. We would also expect to see this lens mounted on a tripod for landscapes or cityscapes, which are certainly areas where this lens excels. Anyone considering a versatile ultra wide zoom lens would do well to take a very close look at this option.
