Optics
A folded optical path fits the 340mm native focal length into a body roughly 386mm long, keeping the unit compact despite its 90mm aperture. The f/3.8 ratio helps gather faint light efficiently for deep sky targets.
Cameras
In its primary mode, the telephoto camera provides a 1200mm 35mm equivalent field of view. For faint targets, 2x2 pixel binning merges four 1.197µm pixels into an effective 2.394µm pixel, yielding roughly 12MP output with improved signal to noise. Brighter Solar System subjects instead use native pixel readout to prioritise fine detail.
The second camera offers a 23.3mm equivalent wide view for the Milky Way, star trails and broader night sky scenes.
Guiding and Field Rotation
A monochrome guide camera tracks star movement to correct drift during exposures, while physical field derotation compensates for sky rotation. Combined with the precision drive, this supports single frames up to 300 seconds without external guiding or derotation hardware. The sensor can also rotate through the app to help frame elongated objects like galaxies and nebulae.
Cooling plus Dew Control
Built-in cooling manages sensor temperature to reduce thermal noise over extended sessions. Waste heat is redirected to warm the optics and limit dew formation. Rated operating range is -20°C to 45°C.
SHO Filters
The SHO Edition includes Hα + O III and S II + O III dual-narrowband filters, capturing all three emission channels needed for Hubble Palette compositions. The two work automatically in sequence, with separation, colour mapping and final composition handled by the system.
An Astronomy filter covers broader-spectrum targets such as galaxies and clusters. Solar imaging uses the supplied external magnetic OD5 filter, unlike the Standard Edition's internal solar filter.
Automation and Manual Control
Target finding, tracking, capture, calibration and stacking are handled automatically, cutting down the setup steps of a conventional rig. Auto Mode selects settings based on the chosen target; Pro Mode exposes manual control over exposure, gain and filter selection, with FITS/TIFF export for third-party processing. Calibration corrects thermal noise, vignetting, dust shadows and read noise during stacking.
Mosaics, Scheduling and Equatorial Mode
Mosaic capture stitches adjoining frames for targets larger than the standard field of view, extending coverage up to 1.8x in each direction. Sessions can be scheduled in advance for extended or overnight projects. Equatorial Mode uses the unit's own metal base and frame for added tracking stability, with in-app setup guidance, so no separate mount is needed.

What’s the difference between the Standard and SHO Editions?
Both have the same optics, sensors and tracking system. The SHO Edition adds an S II + O III dual-narrowband filter for SHO imaging and uses an external magnetic solar filter, while the Standard Edition has a built-in OD5 solar filter.
What is SHO imaging?
SHO combines data from sulphur II (S II), hydrogen-alpha (Hα) and oxygen III (O III) emission lines. The system can capture and combine these channels automatically to create Hubble Palette-style images of emission nebulae.
Is it suitable for beginners?
Yes. Automated capture, calibration and SHO processing simplify what is traditionally a more complex imaging workflow, while Pro Mode and RAW output provide more control as experience grows.
What can I capture with this?

- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
