Canon Legria HF G70 4K UHD Camcorder Summary
The Canon Legria HF G70 4K UHD Camcorder offers powerful features in a compact camcorder which weighs just 740g in order for it to be easily handheld. A 1/2.3-Type CMOS sensor captures great 4K footage, with a versatile 20x 4K zoom lens providing excellent range from 29.3mm wide angle to 601mm super telephoto, in 35mm full-frame equivalent. This combination has been paired with Canon’s DIGIC DV 6 image processor, and Hybrid AF for quick precise focusing that includes face detection. UVC live-streaming via USB-C over a computer is also possible using a USB-C connection.
A built-in gradation filter can automatically compensate for brighter skies when needed and you can capture high quality audio from an external camera mic using the 3.5mm stereo mini jack. Battery life from the included Battery Pack BP-820 is excellent, with up to 165 mins recording in MP4: 150Mbps/25.00p.
The camcorder body includes five programmable buttons to streamline your workflow and a custom dial enables you to change various settings, including Iris/Shutter/Gain.

Our Verdict
The Canon Legria HF G70 is the next generation Canon camcorder which combines portability with great features in order for you to capture beautiful 4K video. At just 740g including the built-in zoom lens the HF G70 is easy to handhold, with electronic stabilisation helping to keep videos smooth and sharp even in lower lighting conditions. The versatile 4K Canon lens offers an extensive zoom range to capture natural shots at the wide 29.3mm end, through to distant subjects using the 601mm telephoto end in 35mm full-frame equivalent. This lends the Legria HF G70 to a diverse range of subjects from travel and holidays movies to sports, school productions and more.
You can add an external microphone to raise audio quality using a 3.5mm standard input jack, whilst video can be live-streamed through USB-C output for UVC live-streaming via a Mac/PC computer. Battery performance is excellent thanks to Canon’s BP-820 battery pack and you can record in MP4: 150Mbps/25.00p for over two and a half hours. The Legria HF G70 is a good alternative to more complicated mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lenses and makes the perfect choice for capturing great 4K videos of a huge variety of subjects.

Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
