Canon EOS R7 Camera with RF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 Lens Kit Summary

The Canon EOS R7 Camera with RF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 Lens Kit combines a high-speed APS-C mirrorless camera with a lightweight telephoto zoom, creating an accessible system for wildlife, sport and general telephoto photography. The EOS R7 sits at the top of Canon’s APS-C range of mirrorless cameras, offering fast continuous shooting, advanced autofocus and in-body stabilisation.

The APS-C sensor introduces a 1.6x crop factor, extending the effective focal length of the included lens to approximately 120-480mm in full-frame equivalent. This provides additional reach without increasing lens size or weight, which is particularly useful for handheld shooting of distant subjects.

The RF 75-300mm lens is a lightweight telephoto zoom that is easy to use, offering versatile framing and long reach that is suitable for beginners. Together, this kit supports all-day shooting of wildlife, action and outdoor subjects with a combination of performance and portability.

Best Canon kit for beginner wildlife, sports days and distant subjects

This Canon camera and lens kit is ideal for beginners and intermediate users who want to capture wildlife, birds, outdoor sports and general telephoto photography, where extra reach and portability are useful. Canon EOS R7 Camera with RF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 Lens Kit In More Detail

32.5 megapixel APS-C sensor with extended reach

The EOS R7 uses a 32.5 megapixel APS-C sensor, providing detailed images with additional reach compared to full-frame cameras. The 1.6x crop factor extends the effective focal length of the lens, allowing distant subjects to fill more of the frame.

This makes the camera particularly suitable for wildlife and sports photography where subjects cannot be approached closely.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II and subject tracking

Autofocus is Canon’s effective Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with subject detection for people, animals and vehicles. The system tracks subjects across the frame and adapts to movement, supporting consistent focus during action sequences.

This is useful for photographing wildlife, birds and moving subjects where focus needs to respond quickly.

Up to 30fps continuous shooting

The camera supports continuous shooting up to 30 frames per second using the electronic shutter. This allows fast sequences to be captured with minimal gaps between frames.

This is particularly helpful for capturing decisive moments in sport and wildlife photography.

4K video and hybrid use

The EOS R7 records 4K video oversampled from 7K, producing detailed footage with reduced noise. A 4K 60p mode is also available for smoother motion.

This supports hybrid workflows where both stills and video are captured in a single session.

Stabilisation for handheld shooting

In-body image stabilisation provides up to 7 stops of correction and works alongside compatible lenses. This supports handheld shooting at longer focal lengths and in lower light conditions.

This reduces reliance on tripods for many shooting situations.

RF 75-300mm telephoto performance

The RF 75-300mm lens provides a flexible telephoto range, allowing subjects to be framed from a distance without changing position. The effective 120-480mm range on the R7 makes this a great setup for beginner wildlife and bird photography

The lens focuses as close as 1.5 metres, allowing closer framing for portraits and closer subjects.

Lightweight handling and real-world use

The lens remains lightweight for its range, making it suitable for extended handheld use during outdoor shooting. Combined with the compact EOS R7 body, this kit is easy to carry for long periods.

Canon RF lens ecosystem

The Canon RF lens range is for EOS R mirrorless cameras, offering a wide selection of focal lengths, aperture ranges and designs to suit any application. The RF mount allows fast communication between lens and body, supporting responsive autofocus, stabilisation and consistent exposure control.

Optical performance is maintained across the frame, with designs that focus on sharpness, contrast and control over aberrations. Many include image stabilisation and close focusing capabilities, which expand their use across different types of photography and video.

The range includes compact everyday models, professional L-series optics and hybrid VCM designs with smooth aperture control and quiet autofocus. This gives users the option to create a system around their shooting style as needs evolve.

For a closer look at real-world performance, read our Canon RF 75-300mm hands-on review by Nick Dautlich, which explores wildlife use, reach and image quality in everyday conditions.
