Leica Noctivid 8x25 Compact Black Leather Binoculars Summary

The Leica Noctivid 8x25 Compact Black Leather Binoculars are a premium compact binocular offering full-size optical performance in a pocket-sized format. They sit within Leica’s Noctivid range, combining high transmission optics with precise mechanical control in a smaller, portable design.

This version suits travel, urban observation and events, where a compact format and refined finish support regular use. The 8x magnification provides stable handheld viewing, supported by a 120m field of view at 1,000m for wider scene awareness. With 90% light transmission and a 3.1mm exit pupil, it maintains a bright and clear image in varied lighting conditions.

Leica Noctivid 8x25 Compact Black Leather Binoculars In More Detail

Optical system

The binocular uses a roof prism design with phase-correction coating (P40) and Leica’s HighLux-System (HLS), maintaining contrast and clarity across the image. HDC multilayer coatings are applied to the outer lens surfaces, supporting light transmission of approximately 90 percent.

With an 8x magnification and 25mm objective lenses, the optical system provides a 3.1mm exit pupil. This supports comfortable viewing in daylight and mixed lighting, while maintaining a natural image without excessive shake.

Field of view

A field of view of 120 metres at 1,000 metres supports general observation across landscapes, urban scenes and events. The wider angle of view at 6.9 degrees allows easier subject acquisition and tracking.

Close focus distance is approximately 2 metres, allowing for detailed viewing of nearby subjects.

Focusing system

Internal focusing is controlled through a central focus wheel, maintaining smooth adjustment across the full focusing range. Diopter compensation of ±4 dpt is integrated into the eyepiece.

The sealed internal system maintains performance in changing environments and prevents dust or moisture from entering during use.

Eyepiece design

The eyepieces support use with or without glasses, with 15mm eye relief providing a comfortable viewing position. Rotary eyecups use a sliding mechanism with two click stops.

Interpupillary distance adjusts between 37mm and 84mm.

Housing

The binocular uses an aluminium housing with nitrogen filling to prevent internal fogging. The leather trim provides a different handling feel compared to rubber-armoured versions.

The body remains watertight to a depth of 5 metres. At approximately 354g, this version is slightly lighter than the rubber-armoured model.
