We can assist whether they are a professional photographer looking for the ultimate L-Series EF lens, or just getting started in photography and prefer a versatile, cost effective zoom as an all-rounder. Various focal widths are used for different genres, with wider models tending to be used for landscape, architecture and interiors. Standard focal ranges include versatile primes such as 35mm or 50mm. These are used for general purposes, documentary and environmental portraits. One of the most famous British photojournalists Sir Don McCullin has been a long time user of Canon lenses. Click to view a fascinating documentary about Don McCullin and his photography equipment on Canon’s website.

Telephoto lenses tend to be used for portraits, lifestyle and fashion photography. These fall into the 85mm lengths up to 200mm. Anything longe is referred to as super telephoto which are used by sports, action and wildlife photographers.

Canon produce prime lenses across all focal widths as well as zooms spanning ultra wide to super telephoto. They also manufacturer a series of specialised lenses for architecture and interiors, referred to as tilt-shift lenses. Other socialist models include macro at various lengths, fish-eye and several others.

Todays mounts are; EF mount lenses for Canon DSLR, EF-M for lightweight mirrorless cameras and RF for full-frame bodies. There’s a fun history of Canon lens mounts on their global website here.
