Improved Image Quality and ZEISS IR Boost Technology
The ZEISS Secacam 3 is the most advanced model in the range, designed to deliver better performance in low-light and night-time conditions. Several key upgrades improve both image quality and efficiency:
- A new chipset offers enhanced image processing with H.265 compression, producing clearer video and enabling faster transmission speeds.
- Larger sensor pixels which are four times bigger than those in Secacam 5 and 7, improve light-gathering efficiency and overall image quality.
- An optimised 940nm IR image pipeline delivers better infrared photography in challenging lighting conditions.
- New 16:9 image and video format provides a wider horizontal field for improved detail when viewing on mobile devices.
While the Secacam 3 maintains the 60° horizontal field of view of its predecessors, the revised lens and sensor configuration achieve a slightly narrower vertical FoV. This maximises horizontal coverage, helping users monitor wider areas and increasing the likelihood of spotting additional species along the edges of the frame.
New PIR Fresnel Lens for Enhanced Detection
The updated PIR Fresnel lens features a polished surface that focuses infrared light more accurately while reducing scatter. Improvements include:
- Greater motion detection precision, especially for smaller or more distant subjects.
- Up to 5 metres additional detection range, improving sensitivity to movement in low-light conditions.
Integrated Memory and USB-C File Transfer
The Secacam 3 has 32GB of built-in storage for greater reliability, eliminating the risks associated with removable SD cards such as poor contacts or potential corruption. Internal memory also provides added security, as it cannot be removed by third parties.
For transferring footage, the camera now supports USB-C connectivity, allowing users to copy files directly to a USB-C memory stick while in the field.
Over-the-Air Firmware Updates
New OTA firmware updates simplify the process of keeping the camera up to date:
- When the camera is powered on, it automatically checks for new firmware versions and downloads updates if available.
- Updates can then be installed directly via the menu by selecting “Firmware Update.”
- This process removes the need to download and manually transfer firmware files, ensuring the camera always has access to the latest features as they’re released. A future update to the ZEISS Secacam App will also allow firmware updates to be initiated directly from a mobile device.
ZEISS SecaTrack Security Service
Launching in 2025, ZEISS SecaTrack is a new security feature designed to improve the chances of recovering stolen cameras. Once activated in the app, the service enables users to locate their Secacam 3, 5, or 7 if moved from its installed position.
When powered off, the camera continues to transmit its GPS location every 10 minutes to the ZEISS Secacam App.
An image is captured and uploaded each time the position is sent, helping identify where the camera is and, in some cases, who removed it.
The service will be available via subscription and can be enabled after a corresponding firmware update.

Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.
- Like New – The equipment is in a condition as if you have just bought it from the manufacturer. The item is still considered to be ‘Like New’ even without the original packaging and accessories. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect working order. Lenses are optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Excellent – The equipment should be close to being ‘Like New’ but there may be some small cosmetic blemishes that lower its grade. The product has been fully tested and is in perfect excellent order.
- Cameras – Should have no marks on the LCD screen
- Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements and optically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect the imagery.
- Very Good – The equipment may have some slight cosmetic wear to the paintwork and cosmetic blemishes with only light signs of use and the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – The LCD screen may have small signs of wear that does not affect its display
- Lenses – The mount of the lens will start to show signs of wear
- Good – The equipment is showing more obvious signs of cosmetic wear and blemishes, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen may have scratches or wear that is starting to affect the display.
- Lenses – May have slight dust inside that does not affect images. The mount shows signs of use.
- Well Used – The equipment will show significant signs of wear. The paintwork will be coming away in large areas exposing the metal work, but the product has been fully tested and is in great working order.
- Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.
- Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens.
