A new optical design consists of 8 elements arranged into 5 groups including an aspherical (ASPH) element, which delivers excellent optical performance even when the lens is wide open. 35mm is an extremely popular prime focal width which lends itself to any number of shooting styles including portraits, street photography and landscapes.

  • The aspherical lens element ensures excellent performance even wide open at f/2
  • Solid all-meal build quality built for durability
  • More precise focus accuracy from a manual focus mechanism
  • 10 aperture blades render smooth soft bokeh

The 35mm f/2 VM ASPH Ultron Vintage Line Type II Lens measures just 28 mm long offering true portability for digital rangefinder or film cameras. A minimum focus distance of 58 cm also provides plenty of creative opportunities for close-up work. The lens is designed for rangefinder-coupled digital and film cameras and features an optical design optimised for imaging on mirrorless digital cameras using a mount adapter.

The design features measures for reducing colour cast in the corners of the image, making the lens suitable for imaging on many other platforms as well as rangefinder-coupled cameras. The new design includes Voigtlander’s type II focusing lever with an ergonomic finger shape supporting quick and reliable focusing operation.

Optional LH-4N and LH-12 lens hoods made from aluminium include a bayonet mount for quick attachment and removal as well as crystal paint valued for its classical texture.

Looking to sell your Voigtlander 35mm f/2 VM ASPH Ultron Vintage Line Type II Lens Black?

Our Verdict

Voigtlander designs a broad selection of high quality classically styled models within the Leica M-mount lens range. The headline characteristics of this black 35mm f/2 VM ASPH Ultron Vintage Line Type II lens are the compact size together with updated optical design the offers excellent results. Colour and detail are both natural and refined thanks to the aspherical element, whilst the bright aperture produces exquisite bokeh from a 10-bladed design. You can also get this lens in the silver 35mm f/2 VM ASPH Ultron Vintage Line Type II depending on your taste.

For those who shoot in low light situations the f/2 aperture gathers plenty of available light, ideal for  naturally lit portraits and street scenes. The Type II focus lever helps with gaining quick and accurate focus with well thought out, comfortable ergonomics. If you enjoy the experience of manual focussing (check our blog post here discussing manual focus lenses) then this option will make for a versatile and extremely rewarding experience when mounted on any Rangefinder camera.
