GMC The Art Of Landscape Photography Book Summary

There are many general landscape photography books, but few that really tackle the issue of composition in great depth, which The Art of Landscape Photography does. The book assumes a good working knowledge of the technical basics including how to set correct exposure, using filters, and achieving sharpness. Instead, The Art of Landscape Photography concentrates on the ‘heart and soul’ of landscape photography such as the principles of composition and aesthetic design to convey your meaning and emotion in every landscape you make.

While technique isn’t ignored, the emphasis is on how technical skills impact the aesthetics of the image; for example, using filtration to enhance the mood of a scene rather than simply to balance the extremes of contrast.

This is very much a picture-led book, with numerous example photos to illustrate compositional points being discussed. At the back of the book there is a summary of technical details including camera, lens, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, filtration – to ensure that those who crave technical information are not disappointed. This is one of our popular photography books, which makes a great gift for a friend or lived one who wants to get ahead in their pursuit of landscape photography.
