High-Speed Image Processing & High-Performance Image Sensor
The Fujifilm X100F features a 24.3 megapixel X-Trans CMOS III APS-C sensor with a highly random pixel array to effectively reduce moire and false colours, which means there no need for an optical low pass filter, giving greater detail and higher resolution.
This sensor makes it possible to make full use of the Fujinon lenses capabilities, and coupled with the X-Processor Pro image processing engine, the X100F delivers outstanding image quality with excellent colour reproduction and superb gradation of tones, especially in warm skin tones, bright blue skies, and rich green foliage.
Now featuring the ACROS mode, the Film Simulation function uses the X-Processor Pro's advanced processing capability to give smooth gradation, deep blacks, and beautiful textures in monochrome images. There is also the Grain Effect function for reproducing the distinctive graininess of black and white film cameras.
Even though the X100F has a higher pixel count than the X100T, thanks to enhances signal processing technology, digital noise is reduced and the ISO sensitivity is up to ISO 12,800.
Quick Response and Enhanced AF Performance
The basic responses of the X100F have been greatly enhanced, with a startup time of just 0.5 seconds, shooting interval of 0.2 seconds and a shutter release time lag of just 0.01 seconds, operating the camera is quick, easy and it performs just as you intend.
The number of focusing points has been expanded too, from 49 in previous models to 91 in the X100f, and with a covering of approximately 40% of the surface area with phase detection AF pixels, the autofocus in the X100F is fast and precise in a variety of scenes. This is further improved with the 85% coverage of the contrast AF with double the data read speeds for higher performance in low light conditions of -3EV.
There are six AF modes to choose from AF-S for stationary subjects and AF-C for moving subjects, and within these are Single Point or Zone and Wide/Tracking mode.
Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder
The Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder in the X100F combines the features of an optical viewfinder (OVF) and electronic viewfinder (EVF) and allows you to operate the viewfinder selector at the front of the camera body to instantly witch between the OVF and EVF.
In the Electronic Rangefinder (ERF) mode, the EVF is displayed as a small window at the bottom right corner of the optical viewfinder to facilitate accurate focusing using Focus Peaking and Digital Split Image even in the OVF. The small EVF window can display 100% field of view as well as in 2.5x and 6x magnifications.
Checking exposure and white balance in the EVF window is also possible, making it the ultimate viewfinder that provides all the benefits of the EVF while shooting photos through the OVF, which offers zero time lag and crisp view.
The viewfinder offers automatic, real-time correction of parallax, the gap between the guide frame and actual shooting range when shooting close-up. This Real Time Parallax Correction function is now applied to the focus area in addition to the guide frame to enable assured framing and focusing in the Manual Focus mode. The EVF frame rate has also been boosted to 60 fps, even in low light.
Intuitive Usability and Practical Operation from a Tactile Camera Body
An overhaul of the layout of the camera's rear face concentrates most of the frequently used buttons and dials to the right-hand side, which allows quick and easy changing of settings while holding the camera firmly without having to take your eye off the viewfinder.
With a built-in ISO dial incorporated into the Shutter Speed Dial (just like old film cameras), you don't need to power on the camera to check the ISO and the information is right there at a glance.
The Focus Lever is positioned on the rear side of the camera body and enables 8 directions of joystick-type movement to instantaneously move the focus area. The Exposure Compensation Dial now has the Command Dial Position, so when the dial is set to a C', it enables exposure compensation adjustments with the Command Dial at the front of the camera body and expands the exposure compensation range to +/-5 stops.
The camera's top and bottom plates are both made from lightweight, strong and highly durable magnesium alloy, with special coatings applied to the surface to create a steel-like texture. The external surface has a leather-like finish using synthetic leather for excellent resistance to the elements and high durability, as well as acting as slip resistance and a comfortable hold.
High Performance Fujinon 23mm f/2 Lens
The specially designed Fujinon 23mm (35mm in 35mm equivalent terms) f/2 lens has an optimal optical design that delivers high levels of sharpness from the centre to the edges of the frame. It's made up of 8 glass elements in 6 groups, including one high-performance, double-sided aspheric lens and a convex lens made of high refractive glass; it displays minimal aberrations along with high sharpness, and beautiful colour reproduction. The HT-EBC coating reduces lens flare and ghosting.
The 23mm f/2 lens has a built-in ND filter with a 3-stop range, cutting down the light to 1/8th.
Extended Full HD Video Recording
With six frame rate settings to choose from, 59.94 fps, 50 fps, 29.97 fps, 25 fps, 24 fps, and 23.98 fps, Full HD recording in the Fujifilm X100F uses Film Simulation modes such as a Classic Chrome' or a ACROS' to add tones and styles to your movies.
Manual exposure is possible and aperture, shutter speed and ISO can be changed during movie shooting. The Intelligent Hybrid AF works during video recording for fast and accurate focusing by switching between Phase Detection AF and Contrast AF. Manual Focusing is also supported.
Other Functions of the X100F
The Fujifilm X100F also supports interval timer shooting for time lapse photography, with intervals of one second to 24 hours to infinity.
Additionally, with Wi-Fi it can be operated remotely through the Fujifilm Camera Remote app for smartphones and tablets.
