Rycote HC-22 CS Kit (Classic Softie Kit) Summary

The HC-15 and HC-22 are high-quality hypercardioid shotgun microphones. These mics offer performance equal to or better than many of the more expensive professional microphones while offering a self-noise level lower than almost any equivalent-sized shotgun mic at any price.

How did we do it? We kept things simple.

The HC microphones are shipped with only a case — no mic clips, foams, or other accessories. To reduce costs, we decided to minimise the packaging and shipping costs by not paying to send “air” worldwide. We ask that you please find compatible Rycote foams, Softies, windshield kits, shock mounts and other accessories near you.

Our new microphones were designed in-house and are made at Rycote in our factory in the U.K. As such, we can utilise much of our current manufacturing and testing resources we use to make other Rycote products. Therefore our investment costs for production were not as high as if we had started making mics from scratch. This combined with a modular material and components design allowed us to create two hypercardioid mics cost-effectively and pass on more value to you.

FEATURES

  • Use when closer to the sound source
  • Use for booming dialogue close-ups (tight shots)
  • Use for normal news gathering on camera
  • Use for mono field recording
  • Use for special FX sound recording

HC-22
The Rycote HC-22 is a hypercardioid (highly directional polar pattern)shotgun microphone designed for a wide range of applications.
This provides solid off-axis rejection and isolation with precise sound quality. It is the perfect tool for location sound engineers and it represents the most sold form factor in the script and Film TV industry where the Sennheiser MKH416 is the industry standard. The remarkable low-noise circuitry increases the appeal of the mic in extremely high-level assignments where high sensitivity is needed to capture sound details and nuances.

Applications:
The HC-22 can be widely used in many professional sound recording situations. From Cinema, TV, ENG, live broadcast, sound design or even studio recording. Its longer format and off-axis rejection are limiting sometimes indoor recording where smaller formats are preferred.
