Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Announcement

Introducing the new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K, a brand new handheld digital film camera. With a larger super 35 sensor and EF lens mount, the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K lets you create cinematic images and with all that extra resolution, you’ve got more options for re-framing while editing.

The Hollywood Look

The new camera has the professional tools needed to create things like feature films and television programming. You can apply the same quality and ‘look’ to any video work you create whether it’s a Youtube video, a blog video or anything else.

The new 6K model has a native resolution of 6144 x 3456 with 13 stops of dynamic range and dual native ISO up to 25,600 for great low light performance. All of that combines to give you an extremely high-quality final shot with wide dynamic range and deeper colours. It’s this that gives your images the ‘Hollywood Look’ and ultimately gives your video super high-end production values.

When it comes to frame rates, the 6K model will shoot at 6144 x 3456 at 50fps or 6144 x 2560 at 60fps. If you want to shoot at higher frame rates, it’s able to shoot 120fps at 2.8K.

Colour

Featuring the same generation 4 colour science as the high-end URSA Mini Pro G2, the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K gives you stunning, accurate skin tones and faithful colour across all of your shots.

The colour science also handles some of the more complex RAW processing allowing you to preserve colour and dynamic range data from the sensor to then use in post-production.

Blackmagic RAW

Blackmagic has designed a revolutionary new format designed to capture and preserve the quality of your shots rather than using formats like H.264 which highly compresses and can add noise and weird artefacts.The new format, Blackmagic RAW saves camera settings as metadata so you can set ISO, white balance and exposure in-camera or override them later while editing giving you huge flexibility in the final look of your image.

Usually, this kind of RAW video format would create huge files that are incredibly processor-heavy but with Blackmagic RAW you can get the same quality, bit depth, dynamic range and versatility as RAW but with better performance and much smaller file sizes.
