HikMicro Condor 2.0 CQ50L 640px Thermal Monocular with LRF Summary
The HikMicro Condor 2.0 CQ50L 640px Thermal Monocular with LRF has the longest-reach in the Condor 2.0 thermal monocular range. It is designed for users who prioritise distance while keeping a compact, handheld format. It combines a 640-resolution thermal sensor with a fast 50mm lens and an integrated laser rangefinder, delivering better subject isolation and observation across open ground.
The CQ50L sits above the CQ35L and is aimed at users who spend more time working fields, pasture and wider landscapes. The longer lens narrows the field of view, making it easier to focus on distant subjects, while the integrated rangefinder adds accurate distance context. Updates across the Condor 2.0 range, including improved thermal sensitivity, shutterless imaging and a larger OLED display, contribute to a smoother and more refined viewing experience.
This model is well suited to wildlife observation, land management and night-time surveying where reach and precise distance information matter more than maximum flexibility in tighter environments.
Overview and key improvements
The Condor 2.0 CQ50L builds on the CQ35L with longer-range observation performance. The 50mm lens provides increased reach and subject separation compared to the 35mm model, helping users interpret detail in open terrain. Improved thermal sensitivity and updated image algorithms enhance contrast and clarity in challenging conditions such as fog, rain or uneven backgrounds.
Usability refinements include shutterless imaging, which removes calibration interruptions during use, while the rear focus wheel allows fast, precise adjustment with minimal finger movement. The integrated laser rangefinder measures both direct and horizontal distance, adding context when assessing terrain or planning movement.

HikMicro Condor 2.0 CQ50L 640px Thermal Monocular with LRF in More Detail
Image quality and sensor performance
The CQ50L pairs a high-performance 640×512 thermal detector with a 50mm lens, creating a setup focused on distance and clarity. Compared to the CQ35L, the narrower field of view makes it easier to isolate subjects across open ground and interpret movement at range. Enhanced thermal sensitivity allows smaller temperature differences to be captured, helping subjects stand out clearly from cooler surroundings.
As with all thermal devices, quoted detection ranges represent ideal conditions. In everyday use, the CQ50L is intended for confident observation at distances where subject shape, movement and surrounding context remain clear and useful, rather than simply detecting heat at extreme range.
Laser rangefinding and performance
A defining feature of the CQ50L is its integrated laser rangefinder. Built into the optical system, it measures distance up to 1,000 metres with high accuracy and can display horizontal range data alongside direct distance. This supports more informed observation across varied terrain, particularly when working in open or uneven landscapes.
Focus and continuous viewing
The Condor 2.0 CQ50L is a fixed-focus thermal monocular and uses manual focus rather than autofocus. The rear-mounted focus wheel allows quick switching between near and distant subjects. Shutterless imaging ensures the view remains fluid and uninterrupted, supporting smoother tracking of moving subjects and longer observation sessions without distraction.
Handling, power and usability
Despite its longer lens, the CQ50L remains compact and comfortable to use one-handed. The ergonomic shape and soft, textured housing provide a secure grip, while simplified controls are easy to operate even when wearing gloves or working in darkness. A replaceable rechargeable battery supports extended use, with the option to power the device externally via USB-C when required. Multiple carrying options help keep the device accessible throughout the day.
