Hawke Laser Range Finder 800 Summary
The Hawke Laser Rangefinder 800 provides precise distance measurement with a range of 6–800m, doubling the maximum range of the Rangefinder 400 while maintaining an accurate ±1 metre reading. Designed for wildlife observation, conservation, and land management studies, it features 6x magnification, an adjustable dioptre, and a fully multi-coated optical system with BK-7 prisms for a sharp, clear view of the subject.
Compared to the Rangefinder 400, this 800m model offers extended reach, which is more suitable for surveying larger areas or working in open landscapes where longer-distance readings are required.
With three operating modes, the Rangefinder 800 from optics specialist Hawke, adapts to different conditions. Standard mode measures straight-line distances, with Active Scan providing continuous updates when the power button is held. Rain mode ensures accurate readings by filtering out interference from raindrops, while Flag mode actively locks onto foreground objects for reliable distance measurement.
The LCD display provides aiming guides, distance readouts, targeting modes, and battery status for quick and easy operation. It is intended for demanding outdoor use, with a design that is compact, lightweight, waterproof and fog-proof, with an auto shut-off function to conserve battery life. It comes backed by Hawke’s two-year warranty, and offers a versatile solution for precise distance measurement in the field at up to 800m.
Hawke Laser Range Finder 800 in More Detail
Operating Modes
Standard mode
Standard mode measures the straight line distance to the subject you are aiming at. It is measured to the nearest yard/metre. When there is nothing displayed in the targeting modes area of the display (to the left of the distance), you are in Standard mode.
Active Scan: If you hold the POWER button while in Standard mode the range finder will continuously scan so you can move around and get constant updates of the distance.
Rain mode
Rain mode measures the straight line distance to the subject, but ignores any interference from falling raindrops.
Flag mode
Flag mode measures the straight line distance to the pin by actively searching for the flag sitting in the foreground, ideal for measuring the distance to the pin and helping with club selection. When Flag mode is triggered the icon will have a circle around it.
