Frequently Asked Questions

Which F-mount lenses are compatible?

Approximately 360 NIKKOR lenses from AI-type onwards can be used. Full autofocus and auto-exposure are supported with 94 compatible AF-S, AF-P and AF-I models.

Will older AF and AF-D lenses autofocus?

No. Screw-drive models can be mounted where compatible but require manual focusing because there is no built-in focus motor. Lenses with a compatible internal motor retain autofocus.

Does it affect image quality or focal length?

No. There are no optical elements inside, so no additional glass is introduced and focal length remains unchanged. DX lenses continue to use the appropriate DX image area.

Will image stabilisation still work?

Yes, with compatible equipment. VR lenses provide yaw and pitch correction, with supported Z bodies adding roll compensation. Compatible non-VR lenses can instead benefit from in-camera yaw, pitch and roll correction.

What changed from the original version?

Lens functionality and optical performance are essentially unchanged. The revised shape removes the protruding tripod mount, providing more room around vertical grips and accessories.
