Understanding Your DSLR - Part 2.
This second part of our popular Understanding Your DSLR course follows on from the basics with a workshop which is purely practical based and weather permitting, at two locations, these being:
• Bluebell Railway – Sheffield Park - TN22 3QL
• Balcombe viaduct – Balcombe – RH17 6QP
The timings of the day are as follow:
1st Location - Bluebell Railway – Sheffield Park
9.00- 9.20: Meet and greet at Bluebell Railway car park.
9.20 – 9.40: Tea / coffee in café & outline of day explained
9.40 – 10.15: Session 1 – Capturing Portraits –how to capture the perfect portrait
10.15 – 11.00: Session 2 – Abstract photography – identifying and capturing unseen images
11.00 – 11.20: Tea / coffee break & critique images
11.20 – 12.20: Session 3 – Low light photography in the locomotive shed
12.20 – 13.00: Session 4 – Photographing the incoming / outgoing trains & in the signal box
13.00 – 13.45: Lunch – a picnic lunch is provided
13.45 – 14.15: Further opportunity to take pictures of the trains
2nd Location - Balcombe viaduct
14.40 – 15.00: Composition - How to position your camera for the perfect shot & use of Rule of Thirds
15.00 – 15.30: Use of manual exposure to ensure correct exposure – demonstration.
15.30– 15.45: Use of HDR (High Dynamic Range) to capture total scene tonality
15.45– 16.00: Use of Graduated / ND and Polarizer filters.
16.00– 16.15: Q & A & Conclude.
Note: We will have plenty of time to photograph all parts of the viaduct including the famous arches.
Please bring your DSLR camera, lens (s) and flashgun as part of the course will involve recreating the appropriate settings be it in a classroom setting.
Course duration - 9.30am - 4.30pm - to include lunch.
