School of Photography Understanding Your Digital SLR Part Two

Understanding Your Digital SLR - Part 2 is a practical photography course; the agenda for the day is as follows:

1st Location - Bluebell Railway, Sheffield Park

• 0900 - 0920 - Meet and Greet at Bluebell Railway Car Park 
• 0920 - 0940 - Tea and coffee in the cafe & run-through of the day's agenda 
• 0940 - 1015 - Session 1: Capturing Portraits - How to capture the perfect portrait 
• 1015 - 1100 - Session 2: Abstract Photography - identifying and capturing unseen images 
• 1120 - 1220 - Session 3: Low Light Photography in the locomotive shed 
• 1220 - 1300 - Session 4 - Photographing the incoming and outgoing trains and in the signal box 
• 1300 - 1345 - Lunch - a picnic lunch is provided 
• 1345 - 1415 - Further opportunity to take pictures of the trains 

2nd Location - Balcombe Viaduct

• 1440 - 1500 - Composition: How to position your camera for the perfect shot & an explanation of the Rule of Thirds 
• 1500 - 1530 - Use of manual exposure to ensure correct exposure & practical demonstration 
• 1530 - 1545 - Use of HDR (High Dynamic Range) to capture total scene tonality 
• 1545 - 1600 - Use of Graduated, Neutral Density, and Polarising filters 
• 1600 - 1615 - Q&A and Course Conclusion 

Note: There will be plenty of time to photograph all parts of the viaduct, including the famous arches.
