Course Overview

The perfect course to get to grips with the basics of studio photography for anyone interested in portrait photography using studio lighting, this course covers studio lighting, studio equipment, and how to set up and capture a shadow-free studio portrait.

Topics Covered

This course covers the following topics during the day:

  • A discussion and demonstration of appropriate studio equipment - i.e. studio lights, flash meter, lighting trigers, and appropriate background options 
  • The camera settings to use for the best results - including shutter speed, aperture, ISO/film speed, focus, and white balance
  • How to capture a shadow free, correctly lit and well exposed studio portrait
  • Some model posing techniques for the best results
Required Equipment

In order to fully engage with this course, please ensure you bring your own DSLR camera, a range of lenses you have, sufficient memory card storage, and an additional battery as there will be the opportunity to take pictures on the day.

Required Skill Level

This course is aimed towards beginners with no prior knowledge of studio lighting or studio portraiture, but you should be familiar with the basics of exposure and fully able to use the manual setting on your camera.
