The Park Cameras Christmas Shopping Days have been designed in a way to not only help you find the very best deals in the run up to Christmas, but also to help you get the very best out of their passion for photography by holding a number of free seminars. This Christmas Shopping Day, we have a mix of different speakers and photo walks available to help you learn more about a wide-variety of genres of photography.
With seminars and some hands-on sessions, visiting Park Cameras will give you a fantastic opportunity to learn more about how to take great shots with advice from those talented and knowledgeable enough to do this for a day job!
Please note, due to the popularity of our bitesize seminars, places will be restricted to a maximum of two sessions per customer. We will try to allocate additional spaces, where possible.
London Seminars - Friday 1st December 2017
Introduction to Shooting Long Exposure
Join David Smith from Olympus UK on this free seminar, and learn how you shoot fantastic long exposure shots using the Olympus OM-D and PEN range of cameras.
David will show how you can shoot some beautiful night-time and low -light compositions using Olympus’ Live Time / Live Composite Mode, where you actually see the image build up on the screen as the picture is taken.
This session will cover shooting star trails, fireworks and shooting in low light conditions. After the session, a live demonstration will be performed focusing on the ins and outs of creating stunning light painting images with your camera.
Throughout the session there will be plenty of time to get your questions answers, as well as see the latest range of Olympus cameras and lenses – plus, some offers will be available to pick up a festive deal!Book Now
The British Museum Photo Walk Experience
Join our resident photo-walk leader Steve Marley for a free photo-walk to the British Museum.
This walk will be at a leisurely pace, and is mainly on level ground. There will be plenty of time allowed for you to get your shots. At the start of the walk, you’ll be given a map and directions, as well as details for the photo walk leader.
On the walk, we recommend you bring a camera (compact, mirrorless or DSLR), a wide-angle, standard zoom and telephoto lens if you have them (don’t worry if you only own one lens).
It is also advisable to bring a bottle of water, as well as a waterproof coat and/or umbrella should the weather conditions be wet. If conditions are wet, the photo walk leader may adjust the route to allow shots from sheltered locations.

Advantages of Medium Format photography
Join Mark Witney from Hasselblad in our London store on Friday 1st December for a 45-minute seminar on the advantages of shooting medium format.
Mark will be discussing the various benefits that this format of photography can bring and how the large megapixel sensors differ to those found in 35mm DSLRs. You’ll also learn about some of the more technical aspects that medium format photography is used for, and the various scenarios where it is particularly useful.

Studio Lighting - ideal for on-location shoots
Join Steve from Profoto at our Central London store, for an overview of the Profoto studio flash range with TTL exposure control featuring the B1X, B2 and the new Proftoto A1 – the worlds smallest studio light!
Throughout this session, Steve will show examples of what can be achieved with Profoto lighting and allow you to get hands on with their range of studio lights and accessories. Throughout the session, there will be plenty of time to get your lighting questions answered!

Shoot the Streets of London with John Clements
As part of the Park Cameras Christmas event in London, Hasselblad will be running a special X1D Photo Walk around the store’s local vicinity in West London.
Hosted by renowned photographer and photography trainer, John Clements, the walk will be suitable for photographers who wish to shoot urban landscapes and/or architecture, and each delegate will have the exclusive use of a Hasselblad X1D medium format mirrorless camera throughout the whole duration of the walk.
Taking in the ‘hustle bustle’ of Oxford Street at its busiest time of the year, John will guide and assist the group with various shoot ideas, while also allowing the flexibility for the group to influence the location and style towards the end of the walk, with a Hasselblad expert also being on hand to assist in your use of the camera and answer any questions, etc.FULLY BOOKED!
The Chinatown and Soho Photo Walk Experience
Get to know your camera and join our resident photo-walk leader Steve Marley for a free photo-walk to Chinatown. On this walk, Steve will share a variety of tips and tricks to help you get some fantastic images and experiece Chinatowns unique charecter. This photo walk is suitable for all skill levels.
Starting at Park Cameras in Rathbone Place (just off Oxford Street – W1T 1JR), participants will head to the nearby area of Soho, situated in the heart of London’s West End. This area is often full of interesting characters to take photos of, as well as a varied amount of architecture.

Capture the Christmas Lights of London with Luke Woodford
Get into the Christmas spirit with a street photography tour of the beautiful Christmas lights of London, with ZEISS Ambassador Luke Woodford. Guests will have the opportunity to use ZEISS lenses for the duration of the walk (subject to availability) on a first come, first served basis.

Creative portraits in tight spaces with Gavin Hoey

Shooting creative portraits with small flashes is what this demo is all about. Olympus ambassador Gavin Hoey will be on hand to share some top tips for moving beyond the basic headshot.
Starting with simple lighting, Gavin will show you that you don’t need a big studio to shoot eye-catching portraits. Adding props, moving lights and being imaginative could just be the catalyst that takes you and your portrait photography to the next level.
During the demo Gavin will be shooting with theOlympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II and talk about his favourite settings and lenses. He'll also cover how to shoot in FP Sync mode (High Speed Sync) useful when shooting with large apertures.
