When investing in a video head to go with your video tripod, there are a couple of important considerations that should be made.
Other than your budget, the most important factor when buying a tripod head for shooting video is its weight capacity. If your camera and lens combination exceeds the maximum weight limit of your video head you run the risk of damaging it and not achieving the smooth shots you’re after.
In addition to the capacity limit, you should also consider the counterbalance capabilities of the video head. You should be able to set the counterbalance on your head so that any tilting motions are natural and you’re not fighting against the weight of the camera.
