Just as film cameras used film to capture your image, digital cameras use memory cards as their storage media to hold your images. Just as there are many brands and types of cameras, there are also many brands and types of memory cards to fit.
Memory cards come in different sizes, speeds, and formats – choosing the right one for your camera is essential to getting the most out of it. For example, if your camera records 4K video, you’ll need a particular type of memory card capable of recording 4K video.
However, if you’re using a compact camera, you can use a slower card that doesn’t need to write data to it as fast.
For the highest end Digital SLR cameras, you’ll need a CFast card or a Compact Flash card.
