Compact System Cameras
Compact System Cameras, or mirrorless cameras bridge the gap between traditional compact digital cameras and Digital SLRs.
The ability to change lens from wide angle, to a telephoto or zoom lens quickly and in a compact format allows a broad spectrum of shooting capability.
CSC cameras main success is that they are compact and lightweight compared to a DSLR as they do not need a mirror assembly like an SLR.
They are also very flexible in lens use - usually allowing use of other manufacturers lenses via an adapter - Nikon lenses on a Sony or olympus body for instance.
They have comparable image quality and functionality, with some models outperforming similarly priced DSLRs.
