Olympus is a Japanese manufacturer of cameras and lenses, with a fantastic heritage, particularly with the OM series of film cameras from 1972 through to 2002. Olympus now concentrates on the micro four thirds system with products in the Olympus OM-D and Pen range.
The Olympus OM-D E-M1 is the top of the range model offering professional image quality and build. The E-M1 also includes on-sensor AF sensor for vastly improved focus tracking capability and compatibility with 4/3rds lenses via an adapter. The OM-D E-M5 continues in the range and is now joined by the OM-D E-M10 which combined features from the E-M1 and E-M5. The Olympus Pen range includes the premium E-P5 and the ‘selfie camera’ E-PL7 with rotating rear screen. The Olympus OM-D ranges are compatible with Olympus micro four-thirds lenses as well as micro four thirds lenses from other brands, such as Panasonic, Sigma, Samyang and Tamron.
Olympus offer a mouth-watering array of lenses for Micro 4/3rds including the Olympus 12mm f/2, the Olympus 17mm, 25mm and 45mm – all f/1.8, the Olympus 60mm f/2,8 macro, outstanding Olympus 75mm f/1.8 and the innovative 9 mm and 15mm body cap lenses.
The Olympus range of zoom lenses include the Olympus 9-18mm, the Olympus 12-50mm, the Olympus 40-150mm and Olympus 75-300mm lenses.
Olympus also offer a new Pro range of lenses – so far consisting of the 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro and the 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro. There are two further models coming soon – the 7-14mm f/28 pro and the super telephoto 300mm f/4 pro.
