Now part of the Mitsubushi group of companies, the Nikon corporation was founded in 1917 and with Canon has pioneered the modular camera system with interchangeable lenses. Nikon built the first Digital SLR camera systems (for NASA) and launched the D1, the first digital camera of sufficient quality to be used by professionals. Nikon have continued to build upon thier reputation through the speed, low light performance and ergonomics of their cameras and through innovation such as brigning the first DSLR to record video to market with the Nikon D90 in 2008.

Professionals D3X MF, AF and AF-S FX, DX* As D3s but with 24.5 million pixels. Does not include a movie function

* DX lenses on D700 and D3 models will auto crop to avoid vignetting. **D700 requires MB-D10 battery pack and EN-EL4a battery to deliver 8 frames per second, otherwise 5 fps.
