Olympus pioneered the compact system camera with their innovative PEN range, which followed the design philosophy of their iconic film cameras of the same name.
The PEN range combine all the advantages of an interchangeable lens camera system, in a more compact form. All models are rangefinder style compacts, echoing the design of the Olympus PEN film range.
Range Overview
There are three segments to the Olympus PEN range;
The E-P series have fast autofocus performance combined with touch operation.
The E-PL series are the PEN Lite models, which bear all the hallmarks of the PEN range, but in a smaller, more compact body.
The E-PM series are the PEN Mini, the smallest models in the PEN range.
In addition, Olympus also have the OM-D E-M5, a DSLR style compact system camera. Introduced in 2012, it has built a strong following ever since and won numerous awards.
The PEN and OM-D models are compatible with all Micro Four Thirds Mount lenses and can also use Olympus OM Mount lenses using the optional MF-2 Mount Adapter and also Four Thirds Mount Lenses using the optional Olympus MMF-3 Mount Adapter.
